Head of Trade Management EMEA

This position is responsible for working with Eaton’s Global Trade Management Department (GTMD) to develop, deploy, and maintain a world-class Global Trade Management (GTM) program throughout the Eaton businesses in the EMEA region. Its focus is to ensure that Eaton’s business is transacted in compliance with all applicable trade regulations and procedures issued by the GTMD.
Function as the regional expert for all trade management and compliance matters. Develops and maintains thorough and current knowledge of international trade laws and regulations applicable to the activities of the Eaton business units.

A. |
Develop uniform standards and procedures for the EMEA region, aligning GTMD procedures. Drive GTMD strategic plan and key initiatives for the EMEA region. |

B. |
Work with businesses to assess and secure appropriate trade compliance resources. Assist businesses in developing and implementing processes, procedures, and systems that ensure compliance. |
|
C. |
Serve as technical resource to Eaton businesses: Interpret relevant customs and export control regulations and provide guidance to businesses accordingly. |
|
D. |
Assist business trade compliance personnel on key issues and projects (e.g., multi-country HS strategy, new plant start-up, acquisition integration). |
|
E. |
Develop and deliver relevant training, through a variety of formats. |
|
F. |
Manage key Eaton-wide import/export functions. |

G. |
Manage the GTM resources in |

H. |
Serve as Eaton’s single escalation point for trade compliance issues within the EMEA region and key liaison with government authorities. |

I. |
Assist with the investigation of suspected violations of trade compliance laws or related company policies, preparation of disclosures when necessary, and development of remedial measures. |

J. |
Evaluate Regional compliance status with various regulatory bodies including Customs, Revenue and Tax authorities, Military proliferation, Controlled materials and licensing, and trusted shipper programs. |

K. |
Communicate policy, procedures and economic issues that affect Eaton operations worldwide. Assist in providing training, advice and guidance to other areas throughout the enterprise as necessary.
Requirements:
· Under-graduate degree required; advanced degree in business, law, or government affairs preferred. · 10+ years direct import and/or export compliance experience in a major corporation, service company, or law firm. · Subject-matter expertise in all relevant areas of trade compliance locally (at least 2 countries in EMEA region) and in relevant · Proficiency in English and at least one other language prevalent within the region required, additional languages a plus. · Experience in drafting formal correspondence with government agencies. · Experience in setting and managing budgets. · Proven ability to identify areas where process improvement is required, to develop process improvements with businesses, and to assist businesses in implementing those improvements. · Experience in developing and delivering trade compliance training. · Demonstrated problem-solving ability, communication skills, and cross-cultural awareness. |
