Trial statistician (scientist)

YOU are a successful problem solver and can effectively use your technical expertise to work closely with other functions to answer important questions about our products by translating strategic needs to innovative statistical solutions.

THE OPPORTUNITY

 You will join the Clinical Biostatistics Team within the Research and Development department of Philip Morris Products SA based inNeuchâtel,Switzerland.

You will provide biostatistics support to clinical study design and ensure effective implementation in compliance with all applicable regulations, statistical standards and PMI Standard Operating Procedures.

Specifically, you will:

 

  • Participate in clinical study design. Engage and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to prepare and develop/review or assist in the development of analysis plans and detailed specifications for analysis (SAP) files, consistency checks, listings, tables, and figures
  • Ensure completeness of biostat-related sections of the Study Master File.
  • Perform statistical analyses utilizing SAS and other statistical software packages
  • Review and collaborate on Statistical Analysis Plan and Clinical Study Report that will be implemented by third parties. Verify outsourced statistical activities, when appropriate, ensure all work is performed on time and in accordance with PMI’s Quality Standards
  • Participate in reviewing departmental/unit documents, operations, and guidelines
  • Develop and improve internal tools, processes and standards for statistical tasks
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of statistical methodology in order to enhance your proficiency in the application of new and varied methods and ensure competent justification of the methods selected

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • You have a Masters degree or Ph.D. in Mathematics or Statistics, or equivalent
  • You have two or three years practical experience as a clinical biostatistician and have performed some tasks as a trial statistician
  • Experience in programming and data management in a clinical research environment
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or environmental sectors or as a consultant would be advantageous
  • Familiarity with regulatory/IRB/EC activities would be an advantage
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is a must; knowledge of any other languages would be an asset
