Mission
You will work on the design, research, and technology of groundbreaking new products that will make the personal computer (whether Mac or Windows) more powerful, engaging, and rewarding to use. You will create designs for new and existing products, including hardware interaction, software interaction, setup and out-of-box, and shepherd these designs from research through competitive evaluation, design, usability testing, and implementation. This is an opportunity to reinvent how people interact with computers, to turn new technology into simply positive user experiences.
Responsibilities:

- develop, conduct, analyse and report primary user research intended to drive the user experience definition for a variety of products;
- develop personas and scenarios, user journeys, concepts and prototypes for both hardware and software;
- produce wireframes, taskflows and experience prototypes for the software parts of the experience;
- document the experience definition for both marketing and engineering teams, as well as for any (other) industrial or interaction designers working on the product;
- work with product managers, and engineers to understand and document user experience design requirements and technical constraints;
- track UX design decisions and specifications throughout the product’s development cycle;
- Lead the design design, planning and execution of UX testing and other user research activities;
- work with external resources, as necessary, to create and iterate through design deliverables.
The successful candidate
- MA or MS (or BA or BS and equivalent experience) in user interface design, computer-human interaction, product design, cognitive psychology, human factors, or related field;
- you don’t have to be a graphic designer, but a certain amount of visual design survival skills are a definite plus. You don’t have to be an engineer, but the ability to make an HTML mock-up of a software interface or a rough physical mockup of a product is a definite plus;
- at least 5 years’ hands-on experience designing great user experiences in online, software, mobile, and/or consumer products, with some demonstrated knowledge and practice of UX design in relation to consumer hardware products;
- a large amount of curiosity about people, their capabilities and needs coupled with a small dose of skepticism about the power of technology to make things better for them;
- strong conceptualization skills with deep attention to detail and the demonstrated ability to convey the intricacies of a desired experience;
- skill in prototyping for conceptual development, testing, demonstration and documentation;
- excellent design communication abilities including wireframes, workflows, experience challenges and opportunities, presentations, and specification of dynamic information displays, animation, sound, and haptic feedback;
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams to gather design requirements and product goals, encourage involvement by stakeholders in the review of design concepts and alternatives, and increase the likelihood of the successful execution of the design of record.
