The Marketing Manager position is critical to the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of integrated marketing campaigns for Lonza’s CDMO Small Molecules division. Campaigns will be designed working closely with key stakeholders in the divisions and business units. The Marketing Manager, Campaigns will play a critical role in implementing and adapting the campaign concept, and best practices developed in Small Molecules campaigns, to the other business units across Lonza. This position can have a team of Campaign Manager(s) direct reports and this team is charged with the execution of flagship campaigns critical for the Small Molecules business units. The Marketing Manager, Campaigns position will also play a leadership role within the Central Marketing community regarding best practices, knowledge transfer and SOPs for campaign design, implementation, monitoring and execution. 

The Marketing Manager will have full responsibility of implementing designated Small Molecules BU campaigns across CDMO and will oversee the Campaign Managers in the execution of the business/marketing plans developed within the business unit covering various inbound and outbound campaign tactics.  The Marketing Manager will also lead channel (primarily conferences/trade shows, webinars, customer/site events, coordination of SME content and videography etc.) evaluation based on reach and demand generation metrics, and update campaign plans accordingly. The Marketing Manager position will work under less oversight from the Global Head of Marketing Operations. 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Implement and monitor CDMO Small Molecules integrated marketing campaigns with a strong focus on maximizing lead generation, building brand awareness and customer relationship consistent with technology-specific market plans inclusive of event planning, execution and reporting results. Post, update and review calendars with commercial teams in the business units. 

  • Manage and coordinate the organization of site openings, key customer events, virtual site tours and videography / photography and others as defined working together with internal counterparts and external agencies. 

  • Support the tactical mix of Small Molecules inbound and outbound marketing tactics for campaign execution such as events, webinars, Subject Matter Expert content, thought leadership, content marketing etc) to reach individual program goals and measurement criteria per campaign and channel. 

  • Manage and coordinate promotional outreach associated with campaigns across all channels including sales presentations, brochures, white papers and wider SME content. 

  • Jointly with Branding implement media plans consistent with the market plan messaging working with public relations service providers. Post calendars. Measure and monitor results. 

  • Support the Digital team to execute digital programs that attract new prospects.  Develop digital content/copy as warranted, e.g. campaign landing pages, Marketo eblasts. Measure and monitor results. Support the Digital team to manage communities and implement nurturing programs with new and re-purposed content. 

  • Train and develop junior marketing resources within the Central Marketing Team. 

  • Develop and monitor budgets for all campaigns and general market communications working with the Strategic Marketing Head. 

Key requirements: 

  • At least 5-10 years of experience in a marketing and/or communications role in a B2B business executing multi-channel campaigns 

  • Technical degree in science or engineering. 

  • Business training / MBA a plus  

  • Experience in  pharma  / biotech services industry 

  • Lonza experience preferably within Small Molecules 

  • Experience in campaign concepts, content development and market communications  

  • Established knowledge of media channels and contacts  

  • Experience in planning and execution of trade shows, customer events and webinars  

  • Familiarity with key tradeshows and industry journals in the SM industry, is a plus  

  • Fluent Business English, additional languages are a plus 

  • Quick and efficient decision-making and problem solving skills 

  • Demonstrated ability to influence contributors across functions 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time and cost-effectively work with external vendors
