FIBA, with global headquarters in Mies/VD Switzerland, is the world governing body of basketball and an independent association formed by 212 National Basketball Federations throughout the world.

FIBA has a truly global reach with five Regional Offices worldwide to support National Federations in their efforts to develop Basketball on the ground. FIBA is a non-profit organisation and recognised as the ultimate authority in basketball by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The FIBA Equipment & Venue Centre (E&VC) sets standards for basketball equipment and facilities, ensuring that they fulfil the strict requirements of high-level basketball competitions. It promotes the construction of basic indoor and outdoor facilities, while actively encouraging the refurbishment of older ones. The objective is to attain a high standard of quality, safety and technology, for the athletes, for the public, as well as for the media, whose demands are ever-growing.

In this role, the Equipment & Venue Centre Associate will report to the Equipment & Venue Senior Associate and will work in close cooperation with colleagues from the E&VC team at the FIBA House of Basketball in Mies.

The role entails managing the technical approval process for new equipment and software products, including developing and enhancing test methods in collaboration with suppliers and institutes. This also includes updating documentation and staying connected to industry innovations. Additionally, you will coordinate onsite testing to encourage the use of approved equipment in competitions and advocate for high-quality venue standards. Working closely with Test Institutes, ensuring testing quality, and expanding the network of Test Institutes are also key responsibilities. • Update E&VC documents, test report templates and FIBA’s administration platform (MAP).
  • Stay connected to product, material, and technology innovation.

Competition equipment and venue:

  • Coordinate and grow the onsite testing program - a testing initiative aimed to increase the number of competitions played with approved equipment.
  • Advance FIBA’s position in the homologation of venues, encouraging the construction of high quality and fit-for-purpose facilities.
  • Handling of information requests related to new venue builds or refurbishments.

Test Institute management:

  • Build knowledge of the testing program and wider industry standards, regularly corresponding with Test Institutes (TIs) and answering questions related to FIBA’s test methods.
  • Ensure the quality of testing through organisation of TI workshops and round robins.
  • Onboard test institutes in new locations, ensuring they meet FIBA’s quality standard.

Other:

  • Participate in the organisation of E&VC partnership events including providing administrative and logistical support in the build-up and during the event.
