We are R&D Point of Care System Development & Integration – the architects of ready to use IVD systems for near-patient testing. Using our blood gas analysis technology, healthcare professionals are able to make decisions for patients in critical situations - in the emergency room, in the intensive care unit and in the operating room.

We are looking for you! You will be part of our Systems Engineering team, where we currently integrate newly developed instruments and software, sensors and reagents into a functioning system. We are responsible for making sure that the systems are reliable and perform to the highest standards.

This internship position is located in Rotkreuz, Switzerland, on site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop workflows and software/hardware tools for measuring and analyzing how well our newly developed systems perform

  • Plan and execute experiments and tests of instruments, software, consumables and the interactions between them

  • Investigate how well blood and calibration fluids are routed through the fluid system of our new instruments and propose design improvements in case of fluid issues

  • Support the team in getting the instruments going in our blood labs

Who You Are

You are enrolled or have completed your Master’s studies at a university, preferably in the field of Biomedical engineering, Mechatronics or Systems engineering within the last 12 months and are interested in applying your knowledge in a modern working environment as part of an internship.

Furthermore you are

  • Experienced in Python programming and analysis of measurement data (required). Experience with C++ or C# is an advantage.

  • Basic courses in electrical engineering and mechanical engineering

  • Preferably, you got a Hepatitis B vaccination or you can confirm your Hepatitis B blood-titre 3 months in advance of the internship with our in-house medical service

  • Motivated to work in a regulated environment and to create structured documentation and written investigation reports

  • Persistent in finding root causes of technical issues and wanting to fix them together with the team of engineers and scientists (required)

  • Able to work independently and excited to network within the team to gain support for your own work

Technical details:

The preferred start date for the internship is September 2024. Please state your preferred start date and the desired duration of the internship in your application. (September 2024 / duration 6 to 12 months)

Part-time employment is not possible.

It is not possible to write a thesis during the internship.

The application deadline is April 30th.

Interviews will take place in the second and third week of May (between 13th and 23rd May).
