Used nuclear fuel characterization with ML components

For the Reactor Physics and Thermal-Hydraulics Laboratory we are looking for a

Your tasks

  • PhD project on qualification of used nuclear fuel characterization methods including surrogate modelling with ML tools
  • Analysis of the quantities of interest (decay heat, nuclide concentrations, etc.) for short cooling times
  • Associated verification and validation studies
  • Uncertainties quantification with appropriate propagation and data assimilation methods
  • Support teaching activities generally at the institution of the thesis advisor and/or perform specific maintenance tasks

Your profile

  • Higher education in nuclear engineering, mathematics or data science
  • Programming and scripting skills, specifically under Linux / Unix environment
  • Experience in machine learning models application
  • Good background in statistics
  • Good knowledge of English
