Sales Manager (90-100%)

Role Purpose

The Sales Manager holds responsibility for supporting the sales management process of PBRS ISPS. He / she is responsible for facilitating a coherent sales management process, supporting sales efforts of client facing staff, contributing to the development and monitoring of the investment offering, developing and communicating relevant sales collateral and supporting after sales needs.

Sales Strategy

Define and drive sales management initiatives, support client facing staff with the execution of sales strategy.


Sales Operations


1. Support the organization of Weekly ISPS Delivery Meetings, Weekly Markets & Strategy Focus and Weekly Regional Sales Meetings. Participate to Regional Investment Committees. Provide IC Heads and ICs with support to enable sales ideas execution. Support the client planning and activation.
2. Produce the fit for purpose, ready to use sales collateral / publications and investment narrative following sales meetings, manage and distribute the content to client facing staff.
3. Coordinate the new product launches, sales campaigns, ad-hoc sales initiatives to promote House views and investment solutions.
4. Develop consistent and upgraded investment communication channels to promote investment solutions.
5. Maintain and develop excellent working relationships with all parts of PBRS ISPS and front line.


Activity Monitoring

1. Promote business growth through effective sales tracking process and qualitative management information. Set KPIs to track sales
2. Monitor discretionary and advisory mandates pipeline activity and prepare reporting to management
3. Analyze sales data from Finance to understand how sales efforts affect financial results. Review the brokerage revenues to understand what drives the weekly revenues and report to management
4. Monitor the performance of Investment Themes and prepare the reference model portfolios.

  • ICs, RMs in PBRS and PBLU
  • Product Specialists – FX, FI, EQ, Funds, SP, AIG, Discretionary
  • Finance, Marketing, Business Management, Compliance

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Work closely with many stakeholders to ensure delivery of House views and product offering to front line
  • Interact with various local and global stakeholders towards the continuous delivery of a strong sales management process.
  • Establish close relationships with client facing staff to help build a positive sales culture.

Operational Effectiveness & Control

  • Consider the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking into account changes in regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices.
  • To keep under constant surveillance, adherence to key policies and procedures impacting the compliant operation of the business

Major Challenges

  • Work across all product lines and marker strategy in order to strengthen product and investment proposition capabilities and develop a comprehensive and consistent offer to clients
  • Work closely with client facing staff to help drive diverse sales initiatives and promote investment solutions aligned to regional clients’ needs
  • Operational effectiveness – deliver an effective end-to-end process to promote, manage and track sales
  • Supporting numerous tasks and large volumes to tight deadlines
  • Requirement to adapt and react quickly to changing circumstances

Role Context

  • Support and manage key deliverables related to sales management process in Switzerland.

Management of Risk

  • Is aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with the role and acts in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.

Observation of Internal Controls

  • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
  • Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including, inter alia, the Group Compliance policy.
  • Be aware of the Operational Risk scenarios associated with role and act in a manner that takes account of operational risk considerations.

Experience & Qualifications

  • University degree in a wealth-management or sales support relevant field (Business Administration, Banking and Finance, Marketing or equivalent)
  • 5 years + experience in a Sales Management, Investment Advisory Services capacity or similar within the Banking Wealth Industry
  • Understanding of the end to end sales management and content management process within a Wealth Context, which includes a know-how of regulatory and suitability matters
  • A solid understanding of the major products/services available in the private banking and asset management industry
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual skills - ideally paired with Front experience
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Collegiate with a solutions focused attitude and has a natural ability to navigate around challenges
