Technology Engineer R&D

Casale SA is a leading firm that specializes in the design and implementation of innovative plants for the production of green ammonia, ammonia, nitrates, phosphates, urea, methanol, melamine, and syngas.

In this frame, the company is currently seeking a dynamic Technology Engineer with research experience. The position is within the Gas Technologies Department of Casale’s Research & Development Division.

The Technology Engineer will join a team of experienced people. The new joiner will be at the forefront of developing Casale’s new technologies in the domains of ammonia, methanol, hydrogen, and nitric acid, like new production processes and reactors enabling the energy transition to a cleaner chemical industry.

The Technology Engineer will lead and execute research projects.

The main responsibilities are:

  • Execute R&D activities such as creating new processes, equipment configurations, and plant controls; designing process plants and equipment; specifying tests in laboratory or pilot plants, analysing and using the test results; performing techno-economic assessments; documenting the new technologies.
  • Lead R&D projects to deliver the goals on time and within budget; prepare R&D project schedules, plan project activities and control the project execution.
  • Be part of R&D project teams; carry out the research activities in cooperation with colleagues in R&D and the company.
  • Collaborate and interact with external project stakeholders and partners.

Education

M.Sc. degree in Chemical or Process Engineering. A PhD degree is considered as a preferred qualification.

Languages

Fluent in spoken and written English.

Skills

  • Excellent communication and teamwork.
  • Motivated to solve business and environmental challenges with innovative solutions applying a solid technical background.
  • Basic experience with project management.
  • Chemical process design, modeling, and chemical reactor design/modeling.
  • Additional skills regarded as a preferred qualification include one or more from the following list: dynamic modeling of chemical processes; design of chemical process controls; design of non-conventional chemical unit operations; design of electrochemical processes; design or operation of chemical process pilot plants; basic knowledge of Python.

Software Knowledge

  • Familiarity with simulation software such as Honeywell's UniSim®, BR&E ProMax®, and AspenTech's Aspen Plus®.

Experience

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of research experience in the industry or University.
