The Fédération Internationale de Natation, the world governing body for the sports of Aquatics, is currently in search of a



Legal Counsel





FINA promotes and encourages the Development of Aquatics - Swimming - Open Water Swimming - Diving - High Diving - Water Polo - Artistic Swimming and Masters programme - in all possible regards  throughout the world.


Over 40 FINA staff are working in FINA's Headquarters in Lausanne providing services to its 209 member Federations, running international events and meetings, ensuring the fulfillment of FINA's objectives as set within the constitution.



The FINA Legal Department is managed by a small team and is looking for a dynamic and highly motivated Legal Counsel with immediate start date. The candidate will work 100% and report directely to the Executive Director.



Purpose of the role


The successfull candidate will provide legal support to all FINA Departments and stakeholders. Drafting and reviewing a large number of agreements will be the main responsibility of the candidate. 





  • To draft and review a wide range of contracts related mainly to sponsorship, broadcast and FINA Events;
  • Provide support in drafting rules and amendments;
  • Manage FINA's brand protection and registration;
  • Provide assistance to the Medical & Anti-Doping Department on anti-doping matters;
  • Servicing legal needs of any FINA Departments as well as National Federations and other stakeholders;
  • Liaise with FINA's committees regarding rules amendments;
  • Provide general support within the Legal Department;
  • Other duties may be assigned.




  • Master degree in Law; postgraduate studies in intellectual property, media or entertainment law or related domains will be an advantage;
  • Several years of experience as a qualified lawyer in the required core areas; experience in Sports Administration  and / or Sport Law is an asset;
  • Excellent drafting skills;
  • Proficient in English (work language); fluency in French or Spanish is a plus;
  • Interest in and knowledge of sport in general;
  • Computer literate;
  • Respect for deadlines, capable of multi-tasking;
  • Can-do-attitude, fast and reliable thinker and worker (even under pressure and with heavy workload);
  • Willingness to travel and culturally sensitive;
  • Swiss nationality or valid working permit (B/C);
  • Driving License.
