The Role

  • Manage the legal activities across the Allianz Trade Asia Pacific Region
  • Provide advice and assistance to the Region, OEs, LEs and Branches on a wide range of legal issues
  • Ensure that the entities within the Region remain compliant with all applicable regulatory obligations
  • Fulfil a coordination role across the entities in scope to ensure that legal responsibilities are duly understood and carried out.
  • Ensure effective interactions with all relevant supervisory authorities for the Region, liaising with the regulators on behalf of Allianz Trade

Job Duties

  • This role will focus on supporting front-end transactional teams with structuring policy coverage to suit policyholders’ needs, review policy wordings, drafting and reviewing vendor agreements, distribution agreements and reinsurance agreements;
  • You will set strategy and goals for the legal team in alignment with goals expected from multiple stakeholders within the organisation;
  • You will also advise compliance and business functions in relation to regulatory changes and conduct impact assessment. Where necessary, suggest pragmatic solutions and work with compliance function to develop Compliance Policies to ensure compliance with local legislations;
  • You will be lead complex workstreams associated with organisation-wide projects, including new products, outsourcing etc;
  • You will develop and provide trainings on legal issues, processes and policies to multi-level audiences across the organisation; and
  • This role will require you to utilise excellent legal training and then combined with stakeholder engagement skills to manage legal enquiries throughout Asia Pacific. To the extent necessary, to liaise with external counsel to obtain the appropriate legal advice.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 15 PQE and above with common law background.
  • Background in insurance industry is essential, ideally from general insurance.
  • A mixture of law firm and in-house experience including experience in areas such as Solvency II, corporate governance, intellectual property, data privacy, antitrust and project management skills – highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement and with the ability to work independently.
