1.5 million! The number of HCPs that can be reached by just 3 journal publications, led by scientific communications at Novartis. As part of a functional team driving innovation and excellence in scientific communication and engagement, this is an opportunity to provide publication expertise, support worldwide compliance with our publication standards, anticipate and shape the future for evidence dissemination through publication innovation on impact, reach and channel.

In addition, the role works closely with colleagues beyond Pharma Medical, in Oncology, Sandoz, Global Development, Patient Advocacy, Clinical Disclosure to name a few, to ensure harmonization in ways of working and identify new opportunities to enhance publications excellence.

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Lead the development and implementation of publication capability building strategies and learning programs to ensure the highest standards of knowledge, skills and capabilities
• Collaborate with Global Pharma Franchises and other divisions (Sandoz, Oncology), to align on strategy, innovation, standard frameworks and systems: Ensure consistency across Franchises; Pilot new initiatives to drive innovation (e.g. to enhance impact, audience, reach); Develop and deliver training and toolkits for Global and country teams on publication processes and best practice
• Engage regions and countries to actively shape Publication Excellence: Identify projects and best practices to share at appropriate meetings
• Support innovative ways and use of digital applications in publications
• Implement publication management systems (e.g. Datavision, Clear) across Franchises and countries in collaboration with IT and other partners
• Represent Pharma Medical in application governance bodies and provide direction for key strategic applications
• Work within Integrity and Compliance policies and ensure a common, consistent approach.

Minimum requirements

What you will bring to the role:
• An advanced degree in life sciences/healthcare. Proficient English (oral and written)
• More than 5 years in pharmaceutical or healthcare companies including experience in countries and/or Global organization (ideally Medical departments or medical communication agency with focus on scientific publications)
• Specialist working knowledge of Good Publication Practice and a passion for publications excellence
• Strong influencing, communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills. Proven presentation skills with ability to communicate and engage with management levels in the organization
• A thorough understanding of internal/external ethical guidelines relevant to the pharmaceutical industry.
• Considerable organization awareness (e.g., inter-relationship of departments, business priorities), including significant experience working cross-functionally, cross culturally and in a matrix environment
