The Viral Vector Facility (VVF) is a central technology platform of the University of Zurich (UZH) and offers custom made and pre-made viral vectors as well as associated molecular biology services for scientists worldwide.
In view of a steadily increasing demand for our services, we are looking for a technician for our molecular biology laboratory.

Your responsibilities

cloning of new plasmids, using standard molecular biology methods (PCR, restriction enzyme digest, gel electrophoresis, DNA fragment purification, ligation)
working with bacteria (transformation, growing of bacterial cultures, production of competent bacteria)
plasmid purification
preparation of stock solutions
basic data analysis and documentation of results
maintenance of laboratory equipment

Your profile

Apprenticeship as laboratory technician biology or master in biology, with strong background in molecular biology, at least 2 years practical experience with basic molecular biology laboratory work (plasmid DNA purification, PCR, cloning, etc.), good knowledge of MS Office application (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and good communication skills in German and English.
We are looking for a person with a dedicated, flexible and independent working attitude (including the willingness to extend working days if necessary) which manages a reliable and trustable handling of databases, nomenclatures and processing of SOPs.
