Head of Business Applications

The Head of Business Applications is responsible for the development and support of the global IT business applications landscape. The department consists of around 35 employees, including team leaders, who are responsible for selection, evaluation, planning, design, development, implementation, and project management in addition to daily operational management. This position will be a direct report to and deputy of the Senior Vice President Group IT, be part of SR Technics IT leadership team, work closely with stakeholders including department heads, senior management and various business units to ensure alignment and deliver business value. The incumbent will have a strong vision to the strategic direction of applications within the organisation and shows strong leadership to the migration of the current application and process landscape to the target IT architecture.

Your tasks

• Run a strategic planning process and elaborate respective roadmaps for the applications landscape overall and for the specific solutions implemented
• Define and implement best-practice development standards, methodologies and policies
• Supervise, develop and coach the solutions teams (SAP, BI, M&E, MS Office)
• Interface directly with senior business management to understand and elaborate high-level business needs, goals and objectives, and serve as ambassador for the application strategy, roadmap and technical solutions
• Plan and supervise projects related to implement the roadmap and deliver business value
• Lead efforts to enhance Business Intelligence and Big Data capabilities, ensuring trust in data through solid data governance and enabling end-users to drive data-driven decision making
• Serve as escalation point for complex production and platform issues and manage vendor support

Your profile

• Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related technical field
• 8+ years of managerial experience in architecting and managing IT systems with a focus on the utilization of ERP (SAP) and BI platforms
• 10+ years of experience in aviation MRO industry or related (industrial) industries
• Demonstrated successful delivery of large scale, complex COTS and business redesign initiatives
• Experience with new technologies like paperless, big data and digital in maintenance, engineering and/or repair processes
• Proven track record in managing diverse teams as well as developing team members of varying skill levels
• Ability to move between high level architectural review/design and the “roll up the sleeves” level of managing all phases of an application delivery project
• Excellent verbal and written skills; ability to develop and present complex material effectively to a variety of audiences, technical and non-technical, staff, management and leadership
• Proactive, independent, process-driven, strategic, pragmatic, persuasive
• Strong desire to drive change
