Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, it plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The Department of Psychiatry includes ten services covering all ages and encompasses the Central, West, and North psychiatric sectors of the canton. Its mission is to provide comprehensive and multidisciplinary care for people suffering from mental disorders, offering acute care, outpatient follow-ups, and interventions in the living environment.
The Community Psychiatry Service (PCO) provides psychiatric care to adults aged 18 to 65 living in the Lausanne metropolitan area. Its goal is to facilitate integration and community retention of people with mental disorders, considering social, relational, and environmental dimensions. Its recovery-centered approach is based on multidisciplinary collaboration, mobile and outpatient interventions, and day activities.
The PCO Research Unit studies factors promoting recovery, focusing on the first-person perspective and patients' lived experience. It is interdisciplinary, integrates expert patients at all project stages, and collaborates with national and international partners (La Source Health School, UNIL, IUFRS, European and Canadian teams). It aims to produce evidence-based knowledge, modernize care, and provide ongoing research training.
