Glenmark Innovation is a wholly owned subsidiary of Glenmark Pharmaceuticals and is based in the U.S. It has an independent board and a new Chief Executive Officer. The new company will provide an enhanced focus to the Glenmark innovation business and help accelerate the pipeline towards commercialization.

Our Swiss operation encompasses two biological R&D Centers and a GMP manufacturing facility and focuses on the discovery and development of novel biological entities and drugs comprising monoclonal antibodies and proprietary bispecific format in the field of immune-oncology and autoimmune diseases.

Overall we currently have three assets in the clinic in various stages of development from Phase 1 to Phase 2b. We also have multiple discovery programs based on our proprietary technology platform, BEAT® (Bispecific Engagement by Antibodies based on the T cell receptor). Our molecules and drugs under developments target treatment among others of HER2 positive cancers, multiple myeloma and other malignancies of hematopoietic origin, as well as a variety of solid tumors.

RESEARCH OFFICER

MOLECULAR BIOLOGY

ROLE OVERVIEW

We invite motivated and talented scientist with a deep understanding and hands-on experience in molecular biology, cell culture and antibody expression and purification to join an innovative antibody/protein engineering department with a strong record of success in developing novel antibody therapeutics in the field of immune-oncology and autoimmune diseases. You will support mammalian antibody expression platforms and cell-line engineering in order to facilitate discovery research and to advance the next wave of novel therapeutic concepts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead/participate in cell line engineering activities including gene editing technologies.
  • Support vector design and the optimization and characterization of cell lines and cell banks to support discovery activities.
  • Present and discuss data in English in both informal and formal settings.
  • Maintain detailed and organized documentation.

  • Participate in day-to-day laboratory management.
  • Perform other relevant duties as required.
  • Collaborate across the matrix to support portfolio development.
  • Comply with HSE guidelines.

EDUCATION AND DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • BSc/MSc or equivalent degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology or other related fields.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in a relevant industry/academic setting.
  • Proven track record in the following: vector biology, codon optimization, cell line genetic characterization, and vector construction.
  • Experience cell engineering/gene editing techniques including CRISPR/Cas9 is desired.
  • Strong experience in mammalian cell culture (small to large scale) and transfection methods.
  • Strong experience with PCR, mutagenesis, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), DNA handling software, and bioinformatics tools.
  • Knowledge of antibody analytical methods.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary biologics discovery team.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and align internal and external stakeholders around these priorities.
  • Excellent written and oral skills are necessary.
