Based in Geneva area, the successful candidate will provide coverage for clients on allocated biofuels markets as necessary and will work to develop new revenue streams and expand existing ones.

EU Junior Biofuel Broker (M/W)

Our client is an international leading brokerage firm based in Geneva area.


  • Continually speaking to customers and closing deals on derivative and physical biofuels markets, in particular bioethanol
  • Monitoring and analysing market performance and communicating it to customers
  • Writing daily market updates, news summaries, performing forward curve assessments and producing daily market letters
  • Meeting new and existing clients on a consistent basis to develop and maintain business relationships, this involves foreign travel throughout the region covered
  • Identifying potential clients via research and cold-calling
  • Engaging with biofuels market players, relevant PRA agencies, analysts and exchanges to evaluate and identify the need for new derivatives contracts in the space


  • Minimum 2 years' experience working in brokering, sales or trading biofuels or any other renewable energy products with a track record of success
  • Worked to develop a new market
  • Previous experience with derivatives contracts, including futures and options
  • Degree in Finance, Business or equivalent
  • Fluency in English, any other language a plus
  • Excellent understanding of the markets and related terminology
  • Computer literate (Excel proficiency to a strong level) with excellent numeracy skills
  • Detail-oriented and able to judge the risk/reward trade-off in daily activity
  • Able to think and react quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Capable of delivering information to clients in a very fast and efficient manner
  • Able to negotiate to maximise desk profitability
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and be an excellent communicator
  • Motivated, self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to prioritise work flow
  • Strong ability to multi-task, able to handle several complex tasks concurrently and accurately
  • Team player, who works well in a group environment
