Brand Strategy Manager

What will you do

Reporting to the Vice President Marketing, the Manager Brand Strategy will help develop, implement and manage key brand strategies for products and solutions in the Building Technology & Solutions segment of Johnson Controls. In addition, this role will manage new naming strategies, brand refresh, brand architecture and brand rationalization programs within this portfolio. The ideal candidate is both a highly strategic thinker and superb tactical expert, capable of engaging at all levels and with multiple functions within the company.

How you will do it
* Develop clear, customer-driven brand architecture strategies
* Develop articulate communications, competitor analysis and recommendation across brand taxonomies to enable brand strategies
* Partner with Business Unit leaders to design and execute brand strategies that drive profitable growth through sales volume, customer loyalty, pricing and market position in line with business objectives
* Assess and develop new product names aligned with the global operating system
* Develop and refresh key brand positioning strategies
* Manage the aligned execution of new and existing product brands 
* Integrate brand strategy in acquisitions, joint ventures
* Deliver and implement clear partner brand strategy 
* Conduct regular brand audits and brand training to ensure alignment with brand architecture, visual identity and positioning strategies to build and protect Johnson Controls product brands globally.
* Develop and implement brand management and measurement disciplines as a strategic operating system in the company
* Develop and drive the implementation of brand migration strategies and product rationalization opportunities
* Establish and maintain clear product brand guidelines and visual identity strategies 
* Partner with Legal to ensure appropriate protection of trademarks, copyrights and other related intellectual property
* Manage matrix relationships with diverse stakeholders
* Communicate brand strategies to external and internal stakeholders
* Continually evaluate and propose changes and additions to brand portfolio based on changing market conditions and opportunities
* Lead research projects and brand equity studies related to brand strategies and effectiveness as required

Required profile:

What we look for 

* Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related curriculum
* Minimum of 8 years of progressive marketing, brand, or related experience in a similar field. Prefer 3-5 years of direct experience in brand management
* Must have experience of developing and implementing brand strategies, advising across brand taxonomies and ensuring alignment with brand architecture
* Demonstrated track record of strong leadership to deliver a brand transformation
* Excellent communication skills and creativity are critical. Must be able to collaborate in a matrix environment to effectively balance regional and functional priorities for win-win results
* Ability to collaborate and work with colleagues and stakeholders internationally
* Experience working for a large, complex matrix organisation
* Excellent written and spoken English language skills is essential ideally to a native level

* Masters or MBA qualified
* Experience in B2B brand strategy and working in B2B marketing environments
* International marketing experience
