Position:
Are you a legal or compliance specialist with a couple of years' experience under your belt looking for a new challenge?    Do you have a Bachelor/Masters in Law and some legal/compliance work experience in data privacy, amongst other areas?  This employer of choice on the Geneva market place, could offer you the ideal job as the next step in your career!

Joining our client's European Legal and Compliance department, this group is part of a global Legal & Compliance function (London, Geneva and Luxembourg).
 
You will provide support to various legal, compliance and regulatory activities of the group in order to ensure the organisation complies with relevant requirements. Initially, the role will focus support on areas relating to data privacy, contract management and review as well as trademark and other intellectual property matters, working autonomously on specific projects, and under the supervision and in collaboration with other associates.  The role will provide a mixture of individual analytical work and opportunities to engage and work collaboratively across teams, both in Europe and globally.

Primary responsibilities/essential functions, will include, but not limited to:
  • Acting as a key stakeholder for the European Legal & Compliance Group as the subject-matter expert on data privacy matters, including assisting the Data Protection Officer and other associates in ensuring compliance with data protection requirements
  • Supporting the contracts activity – including preparing, reviewing and working on various types of agreements (outsourcing, investment-related, marketing and non-disclosure) in order to ensure the Group's contracts are on appropriate terms with third parties
  • Assisting on intellectual property and trademark matters, including preparation of relevant policies and contractual terms, liaising and engaging with internal/external legal counsel as well as  law authorities as necessary
  • Supporting the function more broadly to develop new skills, new contacts and a deeper understanding of our client's business - to include preparing, reviewing and executing documentation and research issues, interacting with attorneys, external counsel and regulators on various issues, with guidance from Senior Managers, attending training events and conferences from time-to-time, participating in departmental and inter-departmental projects.
 
Profile:
  • Law degree / prior legal work-experience, to include data privacy (there is no need to necessarily be a fully qualified lawyer for this position)
  • Your legal associate experience can come from any fast-paced industry within an internnational environment, as long as you have had some exposure to data privacy
  • Fluent/perfect English (working language); second language a plus but not a must
  • A dynamic, driven but low key person who is warm and approachable as well as an autonomous team player
  • You demonstrate sound judgment and are able to resolve matters of moderate complexity, as well as identify issues and recommend solutions
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and comfortable communicating at all levels 
  • A stable career path behind you, also able  to maintain a high level of confidentiality and integrity
  • Already living and working in Switzerland, ideally close to Geneva or happy to move to the region with valid work permit (frontalier ok)
