Accounting & Payroll Manager (W/M)
ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION
Your main responsabilities in accounting:
  • Stay current with accounting standards, regulations and best practices relevant to employer's status as a non profit Swiss association;
  • Devise and maintain accounting and payment policies and procedures that ensure efficient and smooth accounting operations whilst maintaining an adequate level of internal control;
  • Propose and implement modifications to the Dynamics 365 Business Central system to support the efficient and controlled accounting and payment processes;
  • Define and delegate the accounting associate roles and responsibilities, ensuring that the workloads are reasonable;
  • Lead the preparation of the financial statements;
  • Work closely with the Head of Finance Planning and Control and the CFO to support the process of budgeting and forecasting and the monitoring of the evolution of actuals against budget;
  • Supervise on a day-to-day basis the accounting associates providing feedback and coaching to help them perform at their best and develop their skills;
  • Plan and execute or delegate month and year-end closing procedures to ensure the completeness and accuracy of financial information, including bank reconciliations, doubtful debt reviews, accruals for both income and expenditure, foreign exchange revaluations and intercompany balance confirmations;
  • Lead the preparation of the documentation required for the audit of the financial statements and coordinate the timing and implementation of the audit with the audit firm;
  • Monitor the work of the team and any upcoming issues to be able to balance the workloads and ressources over time;
  • Provide information and training where relevant to non-finance staff to facilitate the processing of transactions (purchase requests, expense claims, etc.);
  • Support the Head of Finance, Planning and Control and CFO where appropriate with special projects and ad hoc work.
Your main responsabilities in payroll:
  • Design a process to obtain and review the payroll information to maximise the chance of catching errors in time to correct them within the same monthly cycle;
  • Present the payroll for approval by the relevant staff;
  • Compile the net salary payments and seek authorization of the file by the 25th of each month at the latest;
  • Verify the payroll calculations and check against the previous month's data by explaining month-on-month variations;
  • Prepare and execute the payroll bookings in such a way as to ensure maximum confidentiality of the information.
REQUIRED PROFILE
  • Bachelor's degree in a accounting, finance or silimar
  • Member of the association of accounting technicians (AAT)
  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years of supervisory experience in accounting, general ledger or financial reporting areas
  • Relevant experience in a non-profit organisation or some experience of grant management would be an asset
  • High proficiency financial accounting rules and prractices
  • Working knowledge of Swiss not for profit requirements
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Good problem-solving skills and business acumen
  • Strong analytical and data gathering skills
  • Fluent in French and English
  • Strong fluency in Dynamics 365 or as similar system
