Head of IT Platforms

The Head of IT Platforms develops and delivers the IT Platforms global strategy, in continuous alignment with all other IT teams and the overall Group IT strategy.

In this position, the job holder is accountable for the development and delivery of the vision, the mission, and the roadmaps of all offerings within IT Platforms: common infrastructure on premise and cloud, connectivity and network, telephony and contact center, database, SAP platform, non-SAP platforms, voice and video. This person supports and coaches IT Platform team in prioritizing the promotion of innovation, the maximization of value generation to their direct "customers" (all other IT teams), while fulfilling the overall IT Platforms strategy.

The role include as well the accountability of all offerings management within IT Platforms across the entire life cycle - from ideation and strategy through continuous value management, healthy operations until retirement.

The selected person further holds the responsibility for attracting, developing and retaining talents with the right skills, behaviors and capabilities needed for the continuous success of IT Platforms, across the global footprint of Group IT. The job holder has full budget management responsibilities across the global, regional and local footprint of IT Platforms and being responsible for establishing healthy valued external partner relationships, sourcing strategies and safeguarding high performance levels of delivery of all contracts within IT Platforms.

Last but not least, the Head of IT Platforms is a Member of the Group IT management team, working out of our global headquarters in Switzerland, reporting directly to the Group CIO.

Main responsibilities:

Strategy Development
  • Facilitates the definition of the vision, strategy and value-driven roadmap for all the portfolio offerings within IT Platforms
  • Collaborates and actively partners with each of the other Heads of IT teams during business strategic planning and provides critical contributions to overall IT strategic planning
  • Closely collaborates with BOBST products technology innovation teams to proactively transition business - or IT- led technology experiments to the IT Platforms portfolio and continuously promote innovation across the teams with IT Platforms
RUN Operations
  • Responsible for IT Platforms (on premise and on the cloud), ensuring systems stability, reliability, availability, efficient and secure functioning according to agreed metrics, and respecting BOBST security and operational standards and policies. Responsible for the connectivity of all BOBST entities ensuring the given service level
  • Responsible to ensure the full Disaster Recovery of all the Group IT core and critical systems
  • Regularly monitors IT Platforms; ensures their correct maintenance and life cycle; analyze their costs versus performances and proactively proposes and delivers improvement plans
  • Acts as the point of contact for all the IT teams as advisor and partner on IT Platforms choices and options
  • Responsible for establishing healthy valued external partner relationships, sourcing strategies and safeguarding high performance levels of delivery of all contracts within IT Platforms
  • Accountable for key IT partner delivery and acts as the escalation point for critical partner delivery
Management
  • Provides guidance on the consumption of the portfolio offerings within IT Platforms, in order to maximize adoption, usage, TCO and overall value delivery
  • Facilitates the shared accountability definition and successful execution across all IT teams and IT Platforms
  • Proactively supports the streamlining of the IT Platform offerings to avoid overlaps, redundancies, unrequired dependencies while continuously optimizing the agreed key value IT performance measures
  • Facilitates dynamic allocation of pooled IT Platforms resources
  • Liaises with the other Heads of IT teams to ease the delivery of end-to-end value and best value for money to end-users as rapidly and effectively as possible
  • Operates the IT governance processes that enable prioritization across multiple options, decisions impacting the platforms and ultimately the overall IT budget
  • Manages his team assigning tasks and priorities according to activities planning and resources availability; organizes IT support coverage in respect of IT needs and constraints; monitors team members' performances; ensures the adequacy of the competences promoting continuous trainings, promoting talents and attracting the new needed competences
  • Holds full budget management responsibilities across the global, regional and local footprint of IT Platforms
  • Promotes and truly acts as a reference of the values of BOBST culture
Stakeholder Management & Communication
  • Understands external benchmarks and provide guidance on what technology can bring to contribute to their business objectives and goals; if appropriate recommends changes for increase value creation
  • Identifies and evangelizes technology trends that can improve IT Platforms business outcomes
  • Provides transparency and creates buy-in across all stakeholders inside and outside IT and inside teams on the IT vision and objectives
  • Fosters innovation and continuous value delivery (keeps the lights on, secures adoption and satisfaction), orchestrating internal and external multi-functional stakeholders to define, validates and refines IT Platforms vision, strategy, definitions and roadmaps.

Critical skills & Personal attributes:
  • Bachelor degree or higher in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience and senior leadership in at least one of the business domain that the Stream is working with
  • 10+ years of demonstrated experience in organizational culture as a Platform manager or related field

  • English (fluency required) and French (highly appreciated)
