Position:
Are you coming from a consulting background for financial services in the regulatory change, risk and governance space?  Do you have a strong Swiss private banking client exposure on projects and missions relating to private banking risk and control?  If you're now looking for a fresh challenge on the client side (at a private bank in Geneva) to get your teeth into, this could be "just the job"!  An exciting and broad role which is sitting in the front office and where you will also use your "client-facing" skills to engage with key stakeholders (internal and external), to include the regulator for Switzerland, but also exposed to some global risk and control projects too. 

Coming in at a senior level, within internal control and risk management for private banking, this is a strategic level, 1st line of defense role, based in Geneva, where you will have gravitas and presence.  The day-to-day areas of risk will include primarily: Sales and Suitability, Cross Border Risk, Regulatory Reporting, Data Privacy and KYC etc.  Some elements also as regards MiFID, LSFin to a certain, lesser extent as well as other FINMA-related business risk and control projects. The role allows for considerable professional growth and learning across all material areas of risk and will expose you to a wide and diverse range of policies, processes and products across this Private Bank and related risk and control disciplines.

The Senior Business Risk Manager will be responsible for various risk management duties as assigned, which will include, but not limited to:
 
  • Collation and reporting of key risk and control related metrics relating to Switzerland / the EMEA region and in support of the Private Bank’s Global risk assessment process
  • Supporting the Investment Head on various governance, risk and control related matters
  • Execution and oversight of the Private Bank’s Risk & Control assessment process in Switzerland in conjunction with supporting teams and functions
  • Leading the Private Bank’s efforts to identify and address strategic business risks through internal and external analysis, management and oversight of specific programs
  • Delivering process and control deep dive review activity as required by the Head of Business Risk and Control
  • Internal risk and control related consultancy on initiatives (including digital platforms and programs, data related initiatives, client experience, business and regulatory change)
  • Project management and implementation of policy, process and control related enhancements
  • Supporting the execution and co-ordination of the Internal and External audit agenda as well as the commercial implementation of group wide policies and procedures in the Private Banking business
  • Remediation of risk and control related issues and controls testing activity across a variety of processes for the Private Bank, including key processes and controls relating to Switzerland
  • Causal analysis of control weaknesses or errors identified through the risk and control assessment processes or through operational losses or risk events
 
Profile:
  • At least 10 years'+ relevant experience - strong on execution and "getting things done" - a proven track record in delivery
  • A professionally recognized controls-based background in Management Consultancy preferred in terms regulatory change, governance, business risk, cross-border exposure (private banking - compliance/audit/business risk/operations controls etc) 
  • Experience managing strategic projects for private banking related to risk and regulatory change, KYC/AML and client data management as well as business transformation for areas in such as investment advisory services, FMIA, EMIR and other regulatory reforms transformation initiatives.
  • As well as an international mindset, your experience should be from Switzerland  and include management consulting for banking combined with experience from either a private banking ,asset management or Big 4 for example. - your profile should be a mix of "business risk" with "change" (both elements). 
  • Awareness of relevant Swiss / EU regulation and regulatory frameworks (FINMA etc) for private banking
  • Relevant academic qualifications (graduate calibre preferred but not a must); FRM qualification a nice to have but not a must
  • Able to stake a strategic view and manage change as well as have the gravitas to have a real impact on the business
  • Strong on governance and able to be the lead on this for Switzerland
  • A track record in implementing operational risk management tools, frameworks and processes
  • Ability to work well in a cooperative, high energy, matrix managed business and able to deliver in such an environment
  • Analytical inquisitiveness and problem-solving ability
  • Efficient and effective use of office software (including spreadsheets and databases)
  • Ability to collaborate with and lead others to achieve objectives
  • Able to sift through complexity, identify potential areas of risk and set forth issues clearly
  • Drive and determination - high energy level, but dispassionate and independent
  • Capable of developing and managing stakeholder relationships by demonstrating excellent communication and influencing skills (comfortable around higher Management but also able to relate to those at all levels)
  • Fluent English (working language), other languages such as French or German a plus
  • Already in possession of a valid Swiss work permit (frontalier ok): or an EU, Swiss, EEA, British or Swiss passport holder (due to work permit regulations) with compelling reasons for wanting a job in Geneva and already familiar with the region, if not already based locally
