It fulfills a fourfold mission through its services, which provide their expertise in frequent interaction with all Geneva University Hospitals, thanks to a transversal platform, aiming to ensure the best possible care for patients.
The Emergency Service is a transversal service whose missions are to welcome patients 24/7 regardless of the nature of their health problem, to ensure rapid and effective care in order to direct patients to the most appropriate structure. The Emergency Service also provides urgent medical assistance at the cantonal level (via SMUR), coordinates and manages major events, while being a reference service for the canton’s structures.
Job description
Within the psychiatric emergency unit, you ensure the reception of patients presenting psychological and/or psychiatric disorders. You triage situations both within the emergency service and by phone.
You participate in the assessment of the issue by conducting nursing and/or medico-nursing interviews for the patient and their relatives.
You provide care for patients in crisis and contribute to decision-making regarding their orientation in coordination with the medical team.
You collaborate with the medical and nursing team of the somatic emergency sectors for mixed situations.
Qualifications
You hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or an equivalent recognized qualification by the Swiss Red Cross and have at least two years of confirmed experience in care, during which you have developed strong autonomy in your professional practice.
A CAS in mental health is an asset.
Significant experience of at least 1 year in psychiatry is mandatory.
You possess good organizational skills, priority management, and stress resistance.
You anticipate and handle acute and/or crisis care situations. You are able to quickly adapt to the developments and flow of an emergency service.
You know how to take initiatives and your ease in human relations allows you to work in a large multidisciplinary team in close collaboration with the somatic team.
