The Back Office and Process Analyst will work within the Risk, Middle Office and Back Office team in a Crude and Products trading environment. Core duties will be to reconcile all physical and paper trading activities across the business. Also, the Back Office and Process Analyst will need to identify and improve processes across the department, focusing on increasing data accuracy through automation, developing and building analytical tools.

Description
Main responsibilities
- Daily reconciliation of paper derivatives with brokers, clearers, OTC counterparts and financing banks
- Daily reconciliation of contracts for physical Oil and refined products transactions between external counterparts and the internl trading system
- Processing and reconciliation of invoices in the trading system
- Management of derivative positions internally across various financing banks
- Management of static data related to traded contracts such as Holiday calendars, price data, exchange mapping...
- On-boarding of new products, instruments and business lines
- Timely and effective communication with various external and internal stakeholders
- Contribute to team and individual projects as required by the line manager
Process improvement
- Develop tools to manage Initial and Variation margin with Exchanges, working closely with Treasury and Trade Finance teams
- Ensure at all times that the company is complying with Control frameworks, escalating breaches via appropriate channels
- Develop, analyse and report KPIs around contract capture and draw concise conclusions for management review
- Proactively engage with various business units and stakeholders to improve existing reporting, controls and processes
- Automation across the Risk and Middle Office function, and specifically apply automated IT tools to reduce manual processes and increase data accuracy by reducing manual errors
Profile
- 2+ years in a Back Office function with exposure to Refined Products and Crude
- Fluent in English, spoken and written
- Competent user of MS Excel and other MS applications
- Understanding of derivative and physical trading across the barrel
- Ability to interpret large data sets and draw logical conclusions
- Experience using VBA, SQL and/or Python
- Experience on MS Power BI
- Analytical mindset with ability to solve issues logically, quickly and efficiently
- Rigorous attention to detail, able to prioritise tasks as well as to plan and track progress to ensure that agreed targets are met in terms of quality and time line
- Working to tight deadlines and maintain independence and professionalism when areas of conflict arise
- Handling day-to-day work challenges confidently, adjust multiple demands, show resilience and flexibility
