The Role:
Red Whale swim school www.redwhale.ch has 1400 children taking swimming lessons each week. We are the largest swim school in Geneva. We have different ages, different levels, and 30 teachers. Reporting to the Director and owner of the Swim school, you will be responsible for the effective operations of the swim school. This is a high-touch face to face role.
- Planning (staff planning, lesson scheduling and optimisation)
- HR
- Client relations.
- Day to day functional operations of the building (we own and operate the pool ourselves)
IT is not essential that you are a Swim Teacher, but an interest in swimming and/or children is important.
IT is essential that you are able to work evenings & weekends.
You must be able to work in Switzerland (Swiss or EU national or holder of swiss working permit)
Pre-requisite:
- The candidate must be able to speak and write fluently in both French and English
- Have experience managing multiple people.
- Available to work on weekends and evenings
- Have an outstanding memory, and be highly organised.
- Ability to think and act quickly under time pressure. Everything we do has short deadlines. We are open every day and the lessons and children never stop.
- Must enjoy constantly interacting with people. This is a high touch business where you are in constant contact with clients and staff.
- Must be able to autonomously problem solve.
- Highly effective communicator.
- Be highly computer literate and be able to quickly learn and operate our booking and planning system.
- Planning and scheduling
- Operational Planning:
o Short term and long-term staff planning
o Staff Rostering
o Resolving operational staffing issues (illness and holiday cover)
o Ensuring a supply/demand match between levels and times demanded by clients vs available teachers.
- Lesson scheduling:
o Daily class scheduling adjustments to ensure high occupancy rates and demand/supply match (correct mix of lessons at the right times)
o same day and same week Tactical decisions to optimise lesson schedule.
o Medium- and long-term strategic decisions to maximise revenue and profitability.
- Pool surveillance:
o Surveillance of pool during peak times. Monitoring teachers and children.
o Moving children, and teachers to optimise lessons.
o Ensuring all children are in the right levels and are being moved appropriately.
o Pool safety and cleanliness.
o Customer service.
- Facilities and pool technical
o Have sufficient technical knowledge to trouble shoot and make key decisions regarding pool operations.
o Responsible for all record keeping and meeting all regulations regarding operating a public pool in Switzerland.
o Responsible for ensuring the facility is always extremely clean.
o Oversight of health and safety procedures.
- Customer relations
o Ensure there are robust procedures in place for effective, clear communication with clients regarding swim program, and personalised feedback.
o Respond to customer emails.
o Proactively communicate with customers.
o Change customer bookings in booking system.
o Manage issues and complaints and Take corrective action/trouble shooting when required
o Be the main contact point at the pool for any customer questions, or requests.
