Intellectual Property Assistant
Under the direction of the Intellectual Property (IP) Attaché, the incumbent will be responsible for providing administrative and substantive assistance to the USUN Geneva IP team in advancing U.S. goals at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and other international organizations where intellectual property issues may arise.
The incumbent will provide administrative support to the IP team at USUN Geneva, such as scheduling, coordinating, internal reporting, procurement and reimbursements, travel arrangements and other support as needed, including administrative and logistical support to visiting USG delegations. In addition, the incumbent will attend IP-related meetings and events, including those at WIPO, other international organizations, NGOs, IGOs, and Missions, as assigned, and prepare accurate and complete reports of these meetings
The incumbent will conduct independent research and prepare draft written reports, analysis, summaries, and briefing materials on assigned topics, including WIPO governance, structure, organization, and rules as well as substantive IP issues. In addition, the incumbent will assist in preparing briefing materials and briefing books, including those for visiting delegations. The incumbent may be asked to deliver presentations or remarks on behalf of the IP team at trainings and other events.
The incumbent will monitor and report opportunities to conduct outreach related to IP protection and enforcement. The incumbent will assist in planning, organizing, implementing, and supporting IP programs and events (e.g., conferences, seminars, outreach programs, training, public diplomacy, etc.). Specific responsibilities may include but would not be limited to recruiting suitable speakers for events; identifying suitable local venues; coordinating logistics and event/meeting schedules; drafting agendas, briefing materials, and talking points as needed; preparing and monitoring budgets; supervising contractors; and drafting reports of events.
