Swiss Biobanking Platform (SBP) is the national coordination platform for human and non-human biobanks founded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). It aims to respond to the increasing needs of researchers regarding sample quality and the interconnectedness of biobanks for research purposes.
SBP was established in 2016 as an independent association with the five Swiss university hospitals as founding members. Our main mission is to offer our partners, on the one hand the biobanks and on the other hand the researchers, a professional support adapted to their needs aiming at a better coordination and harmonization of biobanking activities in Switzerland.
To this end, SBP has an executive office located in Epalinges which offers advice and specialized services to support its partners in the areas of biological resources management and quality, visibility and sharing of research samples as well as biobank interoperability.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively participate in projects related to performance support tools for biobanks (e.g. sample management, workflows implementation, access and sharing of samples, SBP Labels)
- Understand the needs of our partners (i.e. biobanks, researchers) by means of workshops, working groups, etc., and develop suitable solutions (e.g. technical specifications, targeted communication, guidelines)
- Develop support and help biobanks in the implementation of their data quality strategy (incl. SBP Datasets) in accordance with the SBP approach and in alignment with other European and national initiatives (i.e. BBMRI, SPHN)
- Liaise and provide customer support in the onboarding and use of our E-Catalogue NExT
- Support the SBP team in the development of new deliverables (e.g. IT, quality or training content)
Key Requirements
- PhD in life / medical science or related field
- Specialization or IT expertise (e.g. Master's degree) for the dedicated support in developing and using SBP tools
- Proficient knowledge of the biobanking field
- The right customer service skills for offering support with great professionalism
- Enjoy multidisciplinary teamwork and know how to seek information from domain experts
- Fluency in French and English; a good command of German would be an asset.
The candidate must be able to manage and coordinate complex technical projects from A to Z autonomously. A strong sense of initiative as well as excellent communication and writing skills are essential for this position.
