As a first-tier supplier to our renowned business partner F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd. in Basel, we are currently looking for a motivated and dedicated Category Manager External Manufacturing Drug Product, Finished Goods for a temporary assignment of 6-9 months.
As the Category Manager, you will be globally accountable for developing comprehensive procurement strategies and leading strategic initiatives within the External Manufacturing Drug Product, Finished Goods Category. This is a high-impact role requiring deep category expertise and exceptional stakeholder engagement skills to deliver significant business value and meet ambitious savings targets.
You will be a key member of the Category Management team, responsible for the effective end-to-end management of the category using the established Roche category management approach.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Global Strategy: Develop, implement, and maintain a formalized Global Category Strategy and related content/buying guides.
- Sourcing Leadership: Lead strategic sourcing and CDMO site selection initiatives, including due diligence processes.
- Negotiation & Contracting: Drive high-value price negotiations and be accountable for the contracting of CMO (Contract Manufacturing Organization) agreements.
- Stakeholder & Supplier Management: Proactively engage and partner with senior business stakeholders, regional Procurement teams, and manage key CMO suppliers through robust SRM (Supplier Relationship Management) activities.
- Value Delivery: Deliver high-value savings targets through strategic sourcing, demand management, process re-engineering, and supplier performance/innovation activities.
- Category Expertise: Apply deep category subject matter knowledge, strategic agility, and influencing skills to align stakeholders and ensure successful strategy implementation.
Must-Haves
- University degree in a scientific or business field, or similar qualification
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in CMO Management or procurement within the CMO space
- Proven experience working in a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) regulated environment
- Significant experience in negotiating and contracting with CMOs
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with proven ability to influence senior stakeholders
- Fluency in written and spoken English is essential
- Strong analytical capabilities and strategic thinking
- Proficient in MS Office and Google Workspace
