ROLE DESCRIPTION

• Viking Cruises is currently seeking a Logistics Manager to join our Logistics team for our Ocean and Expedition fleet. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing and supporting worldwide logistics operations. This position reports directly to the Senior Logistics Manager.

• The Manager Logistics Operations is responsible for coordinating and controlling all activities related to supply chain management of our fleet worldwide. The logistics manager will liaise with our Global Logistics Partners in planning, coordinating, and monitoring logistics operations such as transportation, supply chain processes, warehousing, consolidation, across the full Viking fleet. The Manager Logistics is also responsible for controlling and monitoring Freight Budget.

• The key focus of the role will be on ensuring delivery consistency, cost and process adherence, customs and loading operations, as well as general ship support as related to purchasing.

• The position is based in Basel, Switzerland.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work closely with internal (procurement department) and external parties (freight forwarders, suppliers, and port agents) to ensure planning and deliveries are made in a timely manner.

• Work closely with the shipboard team and suppliers to ensure that all products needed for the operation are on board at all times.

• Support the ships in case of deviations, delayed deliveries, or emergency orders, including coordination with freight forwarder for redirection of cargo to ensure the ships have all the supplies they need.

• Identify local regulations and restrictions and ensuring documentation is compliant.

• Support the Logistics Department in planning and monitoring freight cost and freight operations for ships under management.

• Manage process improvements in the areas of logistics and operations as well as special projects within the procurement team.

• Follow up on service level issues with all vendors.

• Comply with all corporate and ship standards and procedures, including follows all policies, and safety and environmental procedures.

• Follow up invoices and credit notes registration and approval in cooperation with the accounting team.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous working experience in coordinating logistics and procurement activities. Preferably in the maritime industry.

• Knowledge of international shipping regulations and procedures.

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

• A can-do mindset, with a strong focus on delivery a superior guest experience as well as a focus on costs and budgets.

• Flexibility and stress resistance, team player, commitment, positive personality, professional appearance.

• Analytical mindset with a strong knowledge of excel.

• Ability to travel both domestically and overseas.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
