The opportunity

In Group Trade Marks we support a broad range of business partners in both Divisions Pharma and Diagnostics globally, with a focus on making a difference with the development of cutting-edge technologies, products and solutions.

We are looking for a Copyright Counsel with a global attitude who wishes to learn and join our Trade Mark team being the copyright expert. As the Copyright Counsel based at the Roche Headquarters in Basel, Switzerland, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, marketing, content creation, and product development, to ensure compliance with copyright laws throughout the organisation. You will develop and maintain a comprehensive copyright framework for Roche, including governance, policies, guidelines and best practices. You will also broadly raise awareness for copyright topics.

You will be:

  • creating broad copyright awareness across the Roche Group

  • counselling stakeholders on copyright topics and assisting in obtaining proper permissions and licenses for the use of copyrighted materials

  • … conducting periodic reviews and audits to identify potential copyright infringements within the company, and take appropriate action to address and resolve any infringements

  • … the Center of Excellence for Copyright: staying informed about changes in copyright laws and regulations, as well as industry standards

  • … creating and maintaining training materials, educating employees on copyright laws, infringement risks, and best practices for using copyrighted materials

  • … coordinating responses to copyright infringement allegations or disputes, including drafting responses, conducting investigations, and participating in dispute resolution processes

  • ... handling copyright registrations, disputes and licenses

  • … maintaining a strong network of contacts within the copyright community, attending conferences and industry events to stay connected and up-to-date about copyright issues

Who you are

You are an experienced lawyer and copyright professional, with a qualified legal education. You bring 5+ years of professional experience, with relevant exposure to copyright. Prior exposure to the Life Science industry or other highly regulated industries is considered a plus.

In addition, you bring:

  • Experience as a strategic legal advisor and trusted partner to the business, proactively and independently identifying, prioritising and handling legal and copyright issues and risks. You come up with innovative and creative solutions

  • Strong analytical and negotiating skills and assertiveness: you speak up and challenge the status quo

  • Ability to influence and resolve challenges, clearly and concisely communicating with diverse global business partners

  • Excellent knowledge of copyright laws; knowledge related to new technologies, such as artificial intelligence

  • Proficiency in English; German language skills are a plus
