Purpose of position

Data sits at the heart of the company. This role is to ensure that Awin is able to leverage the data it has access to across the group and build out reporting to ensure we are able to make better commercial decisions and provide best-in-class campaign management to support client facing departments.

As a Senior Data Engineer, your responsibility is to design and develop data warehouse to accommodate new data sources, build new data marts and cubes. You have proven communication and analysis skills. You are a strong team player, able to work with minimal supervision and keen to implement and improve our standards and working practices.

Furthermore, you understand data and business requirements and are able to translate into technical requirements. You write clean and high-quality code, easy to understand and maintain. You are able to implement various methodologies of data extraction, transformation and storage and successfully apply your experience and knowledge to create new and improve existing data streams.

Within the role, you are able to break down requirements with clear instructions to your junior team members. You act as a role model and professional advisor to the former and take over responsibility as project lead. As a member of Data Services department you will be working with a global team of data engineers and data analysts amongst other big data engineers within the organization.

This role is a 12 months fixed-term contract.

Key Tasks & accountabilities

• Write clean, elegant and maintainable code with data warehousing best practices and modelling techniques (Kimball, Star Schema etc.)
• Integrate new data sources into our existing data warehouse
• Participate in data warehouse design and architecture to support ETL development projects
• Find new ways for automation over repetitive and manual tasks
• Develop security procedures to protect databases from unauthorized usage
• Evaluate existing data warehouse and recommend improvements for performance efficiency
• Develop best practices for data warehouse design and ETL development activities
• Be responsible for data quality, accuracy and readiness of data warehouse in timely fashion for all kinds of reporting purpose

Education & experience

• Bachelor degree or higher in Data Science, Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, Business Administration or similar education with focus on Data Engineering / Intelligence / Analytics is preferred
• 5+ years' experience as a Data Warehouse Developer, Data Engineer with Python or similar
• Strong experience with full Microsoft Azure data engineering pipelines (Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Bricks, ADLS, Azure Event Hub, Azure SQL DB)
• Strong knowledge of Scrum practices and agile mindset
• Very strong knowledge of databases and database administration, ideally MSSQL and MYSQL
• Very strong knowledge in designing end-to-end ETL solutions using Microsoft Azure technology
• Very strong knowledge of data arear and dimensional modelling
• Very strong knowledge in data warehousing best practices and modelling techniques (Kimball, Star Schema etc.)
• Strong knowledge with cloud services (Azure and AWS) and experience with BI/Data Analysis technologies
