Accounting Lead

Reporting Lines & Interactions

The Accounting Lead will report to the Accounting Manager. The Accounting Lead will supervise the accounting team and should possess strong technical accounting, organization, and supervisory skills to fulfill the position. The ideal candidate should also have a strong knowledge of systems relevant to accounting/finance.

Breakdown of main responsibilities

  • Oversees daily operations of the accounting/finance department; ensures company accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles, and that internal policies and controls are followed.

  • Review and document financial internal controls with appropriate modifications.

  • Contribute to the annual audit, providing all information to external auditors including the preparation of all financial statements and notes thereto.

  • Support for all month end, quarter end, year-end closing including financial reporting, account reconciliations and analysis.

Specific Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Contribute with team to all month end balance sheet account reconciliations, including revenue and related management and deferred partnership  fees in detail.

  • Collaborate and support Accounts Payable and Receivable teams daily.

  • Review Accounts Payable Aging weekly to ensure payments are made timely.

  • Oversee the payment to vendors including wires and foreign currency payments.

  • Review and approve appropriate general ledger entries on a daily /weekly basis.

  • Supervise Investment Schedules (Fixed Assets) for monthly and quarterly reporting.

  • Analyze all banking fees monthly.

  • Review travel expenses in Concur system and ensure staff is properly reviewing in accordance with travel policy and recording such expenses timely in the general ledger.

  • Ensure compliance with Corporate Credit Card policies and suspend card users in accordance with policy.

  • Analyze travel reports prepared by staff to ensure proper coding and allocations.

  • Review monthly payroll prepared by staff and ensure monthly journal entry is properly recorded.

  • Project work as required. 

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years in accounting

  • Bachelor’s in finance or Brevet Federal in accounting

  • Strong Knowledge of Technical Accounting

  • English and French languages are required for this position.

  • Good IT commands and ability to contribute new implementation

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong leadership skills

  • Highly proficient computer skills
