Rittmeyer has an opening for a Sales Engineer in the Middle/Eastern USA to cover Eastern USA and Canada, with a focus on the water supply and wastewater industries as well as hydropower. This is a remote position, location is flexible.

Rittmeyer is the world leader in flowmeters for very large pipes, as well as gate position and water level instruments. Our smart instruments lend themselves to advanced applications such as penstock leak detection, environmental flow management, and other safety, environmental and efficiency application. We help our customers manage every precious drop of water and be good stewards of the environment.


  • Implement profitable growth strategy with Rittmeyer solutions in the field of flowmeters, level-, pressure- and positioning devices in the market segments of hydropower, water supply and wastewater facilities.

  • frequent sales calls to proactively acquire new accounts and to develop existing customer base in the assigned territory

  • actively promote Rittmeyer solutions with clients, consultants, designers, specifying and regulatory bodies, governmental organizations etc.

  • Manage customer relationship from acquisition to project realization to order and money collection

  • Close cooperation with project-/service team in North America and head-office in Switzerland

  • Represent Rittmeyer as a premium brand in professional and personal behavior and attitude

  • Support marketing activities such as exhibitions etc.

  • Maintain all records as required in Rittmeyer CRM

  • Monthly activity report and forecast

Area of work: Middle/Eastern United States and Canada, 50% travelling

  • Self-organized, comprehensive/anticipative planner

  • experienced sales engineer (min. 5 years’ experience in similar position)

  • Hold or can obtain a passport for international travel (Canada and Switzerland)

  • Able to work from a home office and store basic supplies (approx. 1 closet size)

  • Work with Technical Services to manage installation projects including internal and external resources (electricians, scaffolding builders, welders, etc.)

Location: Middle/Eastern USA preferable near a major airport (some flexibility given based on qualifications)


  • Experience in the water/wastewater and/or hydropower industry

  • Experience in flowmeter industry / ultrasonic transit-time methodology

  • Able to work at heights and in confined spaces (manholes and pipes) – training and certification will be provided at Rittmeyer expense.

  • 4-year engineering or business degree
