Business Manager - Private Banking


A busy, long-established, financial institution banking boutique, based in the heart of Geneva. An entrepreneurial, growing and dynamic working environment for like-minded individuals. Are you available ASAP to start an exciting and broad temp to perm business manager type role in banking, supporting front office? Your experience should come from either risk management or business management with strong project management skills as well . This newly-created function is a broad one and is to be the right hand of the General Manager, working within a small office of around 15 people. As such, this role is going to keep you stretched and stimulated and you will continue to drive forward new projects, processes and procedures front to back, to include client onboarding, risk, investment advisory project management, regulatory banking issues, pre-compliance etc. The contract will be 6 to 8 months to start with, but plenty of work and new projects, so very strong possibilities for a permanent contract thereafter.

The role will involve but not limited to:

  • Client services in general
  • Responsible for Project management: Regulations and directives (LSFIN); Core Banking system
  • 1st line of defense risk
  • Client on-boarding, kyc and business management
  • Drawing up procedures and processes for the bank - to include the enhancement of business-related tools optimization to include training up front office on these
  • Regulatory, Business Risk and Compliance front office matters
  • Ad-hoc business management projects that encompass front office through to back office that may arise going forward
  • Coordinate with the IT network provider and other counterparties
  • General Manager support


  • At least 5-7 years+ minimum experience in a similar position of Business Manager or Risk Manager, for example, from Swiss private banking
  • Bachelor's and/or Masters degree in Finance, Business Administration or other related field of study e.g FRM certificate for example
  • Banking exposure a must and understanding/experience of the "Regimes des petites banques" FINMA regulations essential
  • University degree or equivalent
  • Confirmed and deep experience on business management projects front to back
  • A Front office experience in the past would be ideal but in a business manager role today, previously as a relationship manager role for example (farmer banker)
  • An autonomous team player that has strong project management and operations experience
  • Excellent communication skills, detail-oriented, resilient and hard-working
  • Strong knowledge of the Swiss banking regulatory environment, FINMA rules, LSFin etc
  • Happy and used to a broad role, ideally from within a small structure (used to peaks and troughs of work)
  • Excellent IT skills - MS Office Suite and portfolio management systems/banking softwares
  • Available for a full-time role (working hours 08.30-18.30 daily)
  • Fluent/mother-tongue French and fluent English
  • Already in possession of a valid Swiss work permit or Swiss passport, frontalier OK
  • Able to start ASAP for this temporary position to start with - contract is at least 6 to 8 months but could go on much longer (as this is an newly-created position, the role could perhaps be permanent in the longer term for the right person as the company is growing with lots of new work)
