Mission
iPrint is an internationally leading institute for R&D and education in digital printing with a clear focus on the inkjet technology. It is part of the School of Engineering and Architecture of Fribourg, a member of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Western Switzerland (HES-SO).
The iPrint team is 40 strong and includes specialists in mechatronics, electronics, mechanics, material science, fluid dynamics, physics and chemistry.
In close collaboration with national and international industry and academic partners, iPrint pushes the boundaries of technological innovation and delivers concrete solutions by optimizing printing processes enabling the revolution in tomorrow's digital production.
T o support our innovative technologies team, we are looking for a micromechanics engineer.
Scope of Activities
As part of the innovative technologies team, you will be responsible for the design, assembly, and characterization of micromechanical parts and assemblies. Such novel microdevices will result in the next stage of inkjet print heads, ink supply systems, pre- and post-treatments units, and even printers.
In this position, you will have the chance to work on an ambitious EIC Pathfinder Challenge project with other European companies and universities as well as on technology development projects in clos collaboration with well-known industry players.
- Design of micromechanical parts (50%)
- Assembly of micromechanical parts (10%)
- Characterization of micromechanical parts (20%)
- Project management and reporting (10%)
- Technical support for research engineers on matters relating to micromechanics (10%)
Additional information
- Fixed-term employment contract: 3 years, renewable
- Activity rate: 80-100%
- iPrint is located in the Marly Innovation Center
- The HEIA-FR is committed to an equal opportunity recruitment policy
- Master’s degree in Mechanics or Microengineering, or a degree / level of expertise deemed equivalent
- Professional experience after graduation is a plus
- Proven experience in micromechanical design
- Knowledge of materials and micromanufacturing methods is a plus
- Proficiency in CAD tools (Siemens NX / Teamcenter are preferred)
- Experience with Multiphysics (fluid, thermal, electro-mechanical) problems is a plus
- Proficiency in FEM simulations is a plus
- Creativity and willingness to do hands-on work
- Teamwork spirit and skills
- Passion for microtechnologies
- English proficiency is mandatory, German or French proficiency would be an advantage
