360 Labs Initiative at a Glance

The 360 Labs are a new capability that is currently being built up within the Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organization (pRED ). The primary mission of this effort is to provide greater access and support for the use of cutting-edge biomedical research technologies by scientists across our discovery portfolio.

The 360 Labs will deliver core scientific technologies, expertise and enabling activities, as well as facilitate knowledge sharing in close collaboration with our therapeutic areas and functions. Job Mission and Impact

We are offering an outstanding opportunity for a highly motivated, engaged and dynamic leader to lead a new Research Histopathology Core Technology Platform. You will serve as a key member of the 360 Labs leadership team, working closely with the Global Head, to develop a bold vision and strategy to operationalize a cutting-edge research histopathology laboratory which will be a combination of open lab self-use equipment, and a focused full-service capability. You will have a proven track record of engaging with senior leaders and key stakeholders along with a robust research background in the histological preparation of mammalian tissues for subsequent pathological evaluation. You will be either a scientist (PhD) or pathologist (either DVM or MD), and will drive the early build up and growth of the Research Histopathology Core Technology Platform and its support of discovery science within the pRED organization.

Your Role and Responsibilities

• Act as a strategic visionary, providing key guidance and oversight in the deployment and application of histopathology approaches across the discovery research space in pRED;

• Evolve and lead a matrix team with purpose, collaborating closely with our therapeutic areas and functions to prioritize and implement sensitive and cutting-edge histopathology techniques as well as coordinate, validate and direct complex research and technology development projects to explore disease-relevant hypotheses;

• Drive the continued evolution of the Research Histopathology Platform by innovating new approaches, staying up to date with the scientific literature, actively engaging with internal and external histopathology communities, and continuously evaluating new technologies in the field.

Your Profile

• A scientist (PhD) or a pathologist (either DVM or MD) with 10 years professional experience in an academic setting and / or pharmaceutical industry / biotech sector, with proven effective leadership of a histopathology-focused group;

• An experienced experimentalist with both an in-depth theoretical and hands-on knowledge of a broad-range of histopathology approaches, new model systems (animal / organoid) and their application in translational medicine. Preference will be given to candidates with an established track record of scientific accomplishments and successful collaborations documented for example by either publications or poster/presentations at conferences or professional society meetings;

• Awareness of, and the ability to implement novel, cutting-edge approaches in the spatial biology field.

• Are a strategic leader that can architect a compelling vision, serve as a coach to develop and mentor junior and senior team members, and act as a catalyst to enable and lead an agile matrix team with a sense of urgency in a fair, open and collaborative manner;

• Can think outside the box and work in diverse, multicultural, global teams, with a demonstrated ability to implement new ideas in fast-paced research environments;

• Brings excellent written communication and presentation skills with a high fluency in English.
