Fiscal Affairs Director

Position purpose:

Embark upon a rewarding opportunity in Corporate Affairs and Communications function focusing on the excise tax as key driver in JTI’s long-term business strategy.. The position plays an essential role in designing and implementing the global excise tax principles, supporting the market strategy development, building relevant skillset and capability within the company. This position will be working cross-functionally within HQ, Regions and markets, and requires strong analytical, strategic and critical thinking skills, business experience, as well as a technical understanding of excise tax.

What will you do – responsibilities:

  • Define JTI strategic priorities and develop global strategies on excise tax issues covering all product categories (combustible and heated tobacco, e-liquids, nicotine pouches etc.).
  • Analyze the global external environment to develop insights and inform JTI's strategic positions on fiscal issues.
  • Lead the preparation of global advocacy materials and position papers in close collaboration with other CA&C and functional teams (e.g., M&S, Corporate Strategy, GRRP, Finance).
  • Build, manage and nurture an external network of influential individuals and organizations who can be mobilized to support JTI's objectives in excise tax area, e.g., organizing forums on tax policy that are attended by key JTI stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute engagement plans on excise tax to shape the operating environment in line with JTI's corporate business strategy in close collaboration with the wider CA&C Team
  • Support the design and execution of market and regional fiscal strategies, including potential trade-offs, fall back positions, etc. to ensure markets receive comprehensive functional support to deliver on their ASP priorities.
  • Share insights and knowledge with the wider CA team to support the development of expertise through coaching, mentorship, and open feedback.
  • Role model and integrate agility principles, promoting greater collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Who are we looking for – requirements:

  • University degree
  • Critical and strategic thinking skills
  • Business experience (ideally in market or region)
  • Technical understanding of tobacco excise tax
  • Excellent spoken and written English skills, other language(s) considered a plus
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated ability of adapting messages and outcomes of analyses to different stakeholders to achieve desired impact
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and intercultural skills, with a commitment to teamwork and the ability to influence, coordinate, and mobilize teams around common goals
