Enterprise Data Analyst

Zurich North America is looking for an Enterprise Data Analyst to join our Data & Analytics team based at our North American headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois. While this position will be based out of our Schaumburg Headquarters, we are offering the flexibility to work both in the office and remotely. You will collaborate with your manager to set a schedule that supports you, your customers, and the team.

Data Analysts are responsible for building and supporting a foundation of robust, sustainable, scalable, optimized, analysis-ready data sets. These data assets will be developed through multi-year efforts and encompass multiple aspects of the business to enable data-driven decision-making. The products will also allow stakeholders to rapidly conduct analysis, produce actionable insights and answer business questions to execute on strategic priorities. In addition, Analysts will complete data evaluations and enhance the suite of analytical capabilities and tools.

Our Data Analysts will be expected to:

  • Perform deep-dive data analysis and profile complex data sets
  • Build analysis-ready data assets
  • Understand and translate complex business requests to deliver actionable insights
  • Partner with data scientists and data engineers to build and deliver data-driven business solutions
  • Evaluate and leverage emerging tools and technologies
  • Support development of visualization products using a portal concept
  • Effectively collaborate and work in an agile framework

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Data Management area OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Data Management area AND
  • Experienced in data interrogation, data profiling or data modeling

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in an Analytic Data Analyst role or similar
  • Experience in scripting languages including Python, R, Java, Scala
  • Experience Big Data tools like Spark SQL, Databricks
  • SQL knowledge and experience
  • Ability to work independently and interact effectively as part of a team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience translating business needs into qualitative and quantitative deliverables
  • Detailed understanding of how data works and flows in a corporate insurance environment
  • Strong commercial insurance knowledge and experience
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
