Your tasks

We are recruiting a Postdoctoral Fellow to work on a mobility project INTERCHARGE - Secure Integration of the Future E-mobility Charging Infrastructure with the Electricity Grid.

The focus of this Postdoctoral Fellow research is on the evolution of Swiss passenger electric mobility at regional levels and the development of charging strategies. This project envisages a strong collaboration of the energy systems modelling team at PSI with the electric grid modelling team at ETHZ.

Your tasks will include:
  • Establishing a method to regionalise Swiss passenger mobility
  • Expansion of the existing Swiss TIMES Energy system Model (STEM) with detailed regional mobility patterns
  • Modelling of e-mobility charging infrastructure, including a proxy for the representation of the electricity network
  • Performing long-term scenario analyses scoping on the transition to electricitybased passenger mobility with explicit consideration of grid implications
  • Publishing research results in scientific journals and to diverse audiences

Your profile

  • PhD degree in mechanical/electrical/energy/environmental engineering (or similar subject) with good publication track record
  • Good understanding of techno-economic characteristics of energy technology (e.g., e-mobility)
  • Solid background in energy economic modelling and optimisation tools; preferably proficient use of TIMES or an equivalent modelling framework
  • Excellent writing, organisation, and communication skills
  • Proficient English language skills are essential, and knowledge of the German language is an additional benefit
