The opportunity
Empower the Future with Hitachi Energy: Join us in the mixed role as Site Safety Officer and R&D Lab Engineer in Semiconductor Packaging.
We are seeking an experienced R&D Lab Engineer with a strong safety culture and expertise in laboratory environments, preferably in semiconductor packaging. As part of the local HSE organization, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe working environment for the research activities. In your role as R&D Lab Engineer in Semiconductor Packaging, you’ll develop and optimize assembly processes, perform power module characterization and prepare CAD drawings. This position encompasses responsibilities in both safety and laboratory settings, making it well-suited for individuals with a research-oriented mindset.

HSE role

Ensure compliance with local and national laws as well as international or Hitachi standards in cooperation with the authorities

Establish the necessary health, safety and environment (HSE) regulations and support their implementation

Foster a positive culture of HSE in which all members of the organization are actively involved

Planning and budgeting of HSE activities and measures
Lab Engineer role
-
Assembly and development of high-performance semiconductor modules, test substrates and processes with high precision: soldering/sintering, wire bonding, adhesive and encapsulation processes

Procurement of components and materials within the framework of logistics
-
Responsibility for the process line and the procurement and evaluation of new equipment

Communication with scientists and internal business units as well as documentation of processes, process parameters, and module characterizations
Your background
-
Completed technical education and training as physics technician, mechanic, or electromechanical engineer, or Bachelor/master’s degree in electrical engineering or similar

Ideally, experience in cleanroom environments as well as in semiconductor assembly and interconnection technology is preferred

Proficient in process development, process optimization, and CAD software

Experience in Occupational safety and health protection is a strong plus

Independent, open-minded, and communicative personality and a passion for technical challenges in a dynamic research environment

Hands-on attitude with practical experience in laboratory work and know-how in experimental techniques

Relevant work experience in industrial R&D labs is an advantage

Fluency in English and German (written and spoken)
