The Department of Fundamental Neurosciences of the University of Lausanne invites applications for a PhD Studentposition in the research group of Prof Sophie Croizier. The Croizier lab works on the development of hypothalamic circuits controlling energy and glucose homeostasis. Your responsibilities
The successful candidate will study the development of the hypothalamus in mice during both fetal and postnatal stages, with a focus on the structural and functional sexual dimorphism of primary cilia. Additionally, the candidate will explore how maternal obesity impacts these developmental processes. This project will employ a multidisciplinary approach, including histological techniques (e.g. immunohistochemistry and RNAscope in situ hybridization), in vitro methods including cultures of neurospheres, ex vivo calcium imaging and microscopy/image analysis.
Your qualifications
In order to complete our team, we are looking for someone with the following skills:
• Experience in histological approaches,
• Experience in mouse manipulation,
• Authorization for animal experimentation is advised,
• Motivated, dynamic, and enthusiastic student with a master thesis in life science/neurosciences, interested in working in a highly interactive environment,
• Excellent command of oral and written English.
