What you’ll do
You will design, integrate, and operate advanced machine learning capabilities within CERN’s machine learning platform, enabling scalable, secure, and reusable ML services for scientific and IT workloads. Working closely with experiments and service teams to onboard their ML use cases in a reliable, performant and sustainable manner, you will build CERN’s next-generation LLM and AI agent platform, tuning models into secure, scalable services for scientific and operational use cases. You will be responsible for the design and integration of the selected tools after extensive due diligence and validation against CERN use cases in all departments.Your responsibilities
- Develop and operate the machine learning service of CERN IT, covering model training, hyper-parameter optimisation and serving, targeting optimal usage of accelerator resources.
- Integrate and operate LLM and AI agent capabilities within the CERN machine learning service, including scalable model serving, agent frameworks, and secure multi-tenant access.
- Extend existing MLOps workflows to cover deployment, observability and lifecycle management of models, agents and RAG pipelines targeting CERN and external data sources.
- Produce and present reference architectures, documentation and best practices to support CERN users and use cases.

Your profile
- Strong background in machine learning systems with hands-on experience deployment and operating such services in production environments.
- Solid MLOps and cloud native skills, including Kubernetes and containerisation, CI/CD, observability and model lifecycle management.
- Proficiency with GPU and/or other accelerator platforms, including performance tuning and optimisation of inference workloads.
- Familiarity with open source ecosystems and willingness to contribute, evaluate upstream projects and follow community best practices.

- Stand-by duty, and work during nights, Sundays and official holidays, when required by the needs of the Organisation.
