We invite applications for a fully funded PhD position focused on knowledge discovery and trustworthiness in AI for radiology. The position is part of an interdisciplinary collaboration between the Medical Image Analysis Group (Prof. Mauricio Reyes) and the Department of Radiology at Inselspital Bern (Prof. Dr. Alexander, EMBA (HSG) Poellinger).
- You will develop a next-generation CBIR system that combines:
- Deep learning for image-based case retrieval
- Explainable AI to uncover true clinical knowledge
- Integration of LLMs for contextual reasoning and reporting
- Multimodal data fusion: radiology, lab values, medical history, and histopathology
- MSc in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related field
- Strong skills in deep learning and Python
- Interest in explainable AI, clinical relevance, and innovation
- Fully funded PhD with flexible start (Summer–Fall 2025)
- Access to large-scale clinical data and computing infrastructure
