Refinery Economist

The Refinery Economist is in charge of optimizing the refinery margin and production plan. He is working in close relation with the Economic, Production and Technology departments as well as the Corporate Supply Chain.

Prepare the optimal weekly production plan

Present the production plan during weekly marketing department call

Prepare the operating instructions for the coming week for the Operations department

Basic data management

Take part in the daily operations meeting with the Operations and Technology teams

Oversee the preparation of the Production Plan of the following month

Analyze monthly refinery performance through the Backcasting process

Prepare and present the optimal plans at the “Swiss Fuel Value Chain” monthly meeting

Refinery focal point concerning the price set "up-to-date-process" in relation with the Supply Chain Manager

Be the focal point for gasoline, middle-distillates and fuel oil pools optimization

Identify some potential improvements through sensitivities

Keep the Refinery LP and the Scheduling Tool up-to-date in relation to the Units & Products Scheduler, the LP modelers and Technologists

Test, validate and deliver the new version of the LP model in collaboration with the LP modeler

Draw up the annual production budget for the Swiss value chain

Carry out strategic studies, particularly in relation to the energy transition

Managing the master plan

Maintain fluid communication with all participants in the Swiss value chain (scheduling, marketing, sales, operations)

Experience in Management constitutes an asset

University engineering degree or equivalent (IFP School, EPFL/HES)

Minimum 5 years as a refinery economist or LP planner

Minimum 5 years' experience in scheduling or in a technical refining field

In-depth knowledge of refining processes

Good level of English and French both spoken and written

Proficiency in office automation tools

Detail and result oriented, you are able to prioritize tasks effectively and work precisely under pressure

You have good communication and interpersonal skills

You are demonstrably commercial and have incisive and accurate judgement

Team player and resourceful, you are able to work across organizational boundaries

Ability to prioritize tasks and meet critical deadlines
