are seeking applications for the position of

Head of the Cantonal Institute of Pathology of the EOC, Locarno; Full Professor of pathology at the Università della Svizzera Italiana (100%)

The successful applicant will hold the positions of:

  • Head, Cantonal Institute of Pathology of the EOC in Locarno
  • Full Professor of pathology at the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences of the Università della Svizzera italiana in Switzerland, Institute of Human Medicine, responsible for organizing the theoretical and clinical teaching of pathology as part of the training programs in human medicine.

Essential criteria

  • postgraduate qualification in pathology in accordance with Art. 20 and 21 of the Federal Law on University Medical Professions (LPMed). For foreign qualifications, Mebeko recognition is required before starting work at the

EOC;

  • established experience in pathology with expertise in diagnostic citology and/or molecular pathology, acquired at least in a leading role at a university or cantonal hospital or equivalent foreign institution;
  • academic qualification to teach pathology at a Swiss or foreign university;
  • solid and proven experience in the clinical and managerial running of a pathology service;
  • ability to manage quality and clinical governance programs;
  • experience and willingness in promoting multidisciplinary clinical collaboration (e.g. accredited centers of expertise for tumor diseases);
  • willingness to develop an integrated diagnostic strategy in collaboration with other diagnostic services;
  • experience in promoting, contributing and actively supporting the achievement of the objectives of the Institute as a whole;
  • willingness to continue and strengthen collaboration with local doctors;
  • commitment to developing a training and research activity that is capable of promoting the academic progression of collaborators, ensuring continuity with the activities already developed;
  • experience in conducting a research program (clinical, translational and/or fundamental), with a track record of scientific publications on the specific topics of the call and in obtaining research funding;
  • willingness to collaborate with members of the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences of the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) in the definition and implementation of study paths and the development of research within the Faculty;
  • interest and motivation to promote projects and positions linked to the concept of equal opportunities;
  • good knowledge of Italian and English. Knowledge of national languages is an advantage;
  • effective verbal and written communication skills. Should be able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
  • the opportunity to join a solid and experienced staff;
  • the role of medical and scientific director the Cantonal Institute of Pathology of the EOC in Locarno;
  • involvement as full professor in the dynamic Faculty of Biomedical Sciences;
  • active participation in the realization of the Master in Human Medicine of the USI Faculty of Biomedical Sciences.
