Laboratory Animal Veterinarian / GMO Manager
Clinical veterinary medicine
• Supply veterinary medical care independently
• Implementation of preventive medicine programs (routine health monitoring, import, quarantine, diagnostics)
• Audit veterinary medical records and other clinically related documents
• Support with the EAC veterinary pharmacy
• Participate in veterinary on-call schedule
• Ensure regulatory compliance with university guidelines and Swiss regulations
• Develop, review, and revise clinical-related SOPs
• Serve as a rotating member in internal facility/programmatic evaluations
GMO management and distress monitoring
• Advice and support for researchers on animal models / breeding strategies
• Advice and support for researchers in correctly completing the GMO data sheets and form M
• Advice and support for researchers in creating nomenclature-compliant strain names
• Regular updates of the data sheets and forms M
• Upload of completed documents to the animal management system
• Regular checks via the animal management system on the status of the distress monitoring of the animal lines under investigation
• Regular controls in animal husbandries regarding the implementation of stress-reducing measures
• Regular communication with the Heads of EAC, Facilities, PIs and Animal Welfare Officer
• Degree in veterinary medicine eligible to work in Switzerland
• ECLAM / ACLAM board a desired plus
• At least 3 years of working experience in laboratory animal medicine
• Robust knowledge of genetic modifications and breeding in experimental rodents
• Experience in carrying out distress monitoring is an advantage
• Advanced knowledge and experience with animal management programs (e.g. Pyrat, e-rats). Proficient with Word and Excel office applications.
• You are a reliable, flexible, team player, well organized and service-oriented person with quick comprehension and independent, very careful, diligent way of working.
• Fluent in English and/or German, other languages are a plus
• A 2-year position, with the possibility of prolongation
