The EMEA Business Development team has had significant impact over the years in driving Oracle’s business forward. We are looking to continue that success and move into a new phase of growth as our business continues to evolve and grow to the cloud. To ensure that we can do this we need a highly motivated, energetic individual to join Oracle EMEA as Business Development Manager/Director (Individual Contributor).

The role will focus in the go-to-market of Oracle’s Cloud Native and Integration offering with special emphasis on WebLogic in the cloud. We are looking for applicants with significant experience in WebLogic and a history of successful consultative selling into large organisations and those that demonstrate hands on experience.

The role is for a senior-level individual contributor who will have the opportunity to work closely with stakeholders across the sales and sales consulting organisation, product management, marketing and others to develop the vision, determine objectives and KPIs, and execute on a well-defined plan. You will need to be able to network extensively within Oracle to ensure the success of the portfolio. You will also be responsible to devise and execute programmatic campaigns to address the market.

As an Oracle EMEA BDM your work will be highly visible to customers and partners and also internally within Oracle. You will need to be confident and capable of presenting and discussing application development solutions (ranging from strategy and thought-leadership to a reasonable technical level) at large public events or 1:1 with customers/partners.

As a BDM all of the work you undertake must be focused on creating value for our customers and partners whilst increasing revenues and cloud-consumption for Oracle.

Scope, Responsibility and Accountability

  • Part of the EMEA Business Development team working towards agreed objectives

  • Contribute extensively to the "go-to-market" strategy for your products at both an EMEA and regional levels

  • Work closely with License Sales, Sales Consulting, Marketing, Oracle Direct, Oracle Consulting, Support, Alliances and Channels, Product Management and Oracle Partners to promote the Cloud Native and Integration offering

  • Develop and potentially own sales opportunities through their entire lifecycle, including direct customer interaction

  • Understand local and global markets for Cloud Native and Integration products and create/develop/execute suitable demand generation activities through all possible channels

  • Create value propositions that are both local and pan-EMEA relevant such as sales playbooks, industry messaging, webcasts

  • Identify and develop local and EMEA partners alongside Oracle's partner organisation

  • Understand the competitive landscape and ensure successes are strengths are promoted internally and externally

  • Represent Oracle in external communications (seminars, marketing events, user group events, customer meetings, workshops)

  • Network extensively within Oracle to ensure the proper level of engagement within other product/business lines, events and activity

Key Requirements/Qualifications for This Role

  • Strong knowledge of WebLogic

  • A high level of commercial and business acumen gained through direct work experience

  • Strong command of the English language (verbal and writing) is a must. Another major European language would be considered an added asset.

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills. Ability to present confidently in front of 100 people as equally as with 1 person

  • The ability to network extensively internally and externally and create long-term valued business relationships

  • Experience of Oracle and/or other Application Server and/or Cloud-Native technologies is highly desirable as is the first-hand knowledge of how these technologies provide business benefit to customers. Any applicants that combine WebLogic with modern Cloud-Native (Microservices, Docker, Kubernetes) will have an additional advantage.

  • Previous experience of a similar role within Oracle and/or elsewhere is a benefit

  • Bachelor or Master, ideally in Computer Sciences, Engineering or related field.

  • Flexibility regarding work schedule and travel

  • Travel: Yes, 20%-50% across EMEA

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Responsible for the identification of relevant new business opportunities and designs "go-to-market" plan to deliver measurable and significant revenues. Pursues sales opportunities in the market, and carries the baton in the beginning of the sales cycle.

A Business Development Representative is assigned to strategic accounts which may be grouped by industry where Oracle has a limited presence. Acts as primary liaison between Consulting, Sales, and Oracle Development for the product

  • s sales opportunities. Generates business opportunities through prospecting mass market programs and leveraging third party partners. Develops and coordinates a worldwide relationship with customers that establishes Oracle as a preferred vendor and optimizes Oracle's sales of product. Executes aggressive strategies and plans to successfully drive the product as the preferred customer selection. Provides account representatives with information on how the product addresses specific needs, and assists account representatives in using Oracle's products to leverage large revenue opportunities. Assists in articulating product message, coordinates technical resources and hands off deals to a successful close.

Acknowledged authority within the Corporation. Acts as a leader of large-scale company initiatives. Viewed by peers as a leader and top contributor and by line management as a key business partner. 12 years of progressively increased responsibilities in sales or sales management. Marketing and business development experience preferred. Proven track record in managing multiple opportunities and ability to negotiate and close complex deals. Ability to determine strategy and tactical plans that deliver tangible results. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Ability to Travel as needed. BA/BS degree or equivalent, advanced degree highly desirable.
