We collect and analyse a large array of data and statistics on global financial systems and micro-economic activity. From this, we generate a variety of insights that are used and relied upon by central banks, financial regulatory institutions and academia around the world. Indeed, some of the source data sets we work with and the ways in which we combine them are unique to our organisation. 

But we know that our full potential is yet to be achieved. Our aim is to collect a wider variety of data and harness new technology to generate more powerful insights. This is a chance to be involved in a step change in our capability.

A collaborative role that transforms our use of data
You’ll join ITS Data & Analytics team who are tackling a range of complex software and data challenges, including data management, advanced analytics and business intelligence. You’ll be helping us to implement, maintain and support shared data platforms exploiting cutting-edge technologies and modern software development practices.  Almost always, you will find yourself looking outwards and collaborating; not just among the team but with expert economists, technologists, data scientists and statisticians – and counterparts in other international organisations and central banks.

Your qualifications and experience
You will have a graduate degree in computer science, or another IT-related technical field, with at least three years of experience in software development or data engineering. About all, you will have a passion for data and analytics. You will fulfil the following role in Bank’s central IT unit (ITS) :

Big Data Solution Architect

You will be joining the ITS Data & Analytics team and will be working with Data Management teams, Infrastructure teams, BI teams, and the whole IT community. You will participate in various projects and IT steering committees. Your role will be covering the whole data management architecture on various technologies . You will be supporting development teams in their day to day usage of the latest Data Management systems: Cloudera Data Platform, Alation, Apache Nifi, Apache Kafka, ETL systems, BI tools (Tableau) and Data Science tools such as Dataiku and Jupyter . You will be helping us to evolve such architecture and ensure our teams have the best tools at their hands to perform analytics develop data pipelines, build machine learning models, BI dashboards, data streaming and potentially cloud interconnectivity in future. 

You will have 8-10+ years of professional experience in Data Management domain. You will have experience of designing, implementing and supporting Hadoop clusters, Nifi and Kafka. 

You will be highly skilled on data management domain and have broad experience of working with common data technologies as Hadoop, Spark, Python, R and SQL. Experience of working on SQL server database would be an advantage. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and would be able to explain complex technical concepts in laymen’s term.

You are expected to own the foundational architecture of Bank’s big data platform and support the team it services . You will function as though-leader for data teams; identify upcoming issues and present solutions in advance to support ongoing development. You will analyse complex technical scenarios and provide recommendations based on research and proof-of-concepts. You will monitor ever changing data technology landscape and provide recommendations to best support Bank’s data vision. You will provide architectural oversite that include the maturation of data services (cataloguing, lineage, metadata management), data access patterns (API’s, integrations, streaming, event hub), data lake storage formats and access patterns (HDFS, HBase, DeltaLake, Hive, Impala) and data science tools (Juypter, Dataiku, Tableau). You will also actively support development, maintainance and operations of big data platform. 

You are expected to continually monitor new technologies and partner with IT and business leaders to set vision and define future state capabilities required for the Bank to meet its objectvies. You are expected to work with project and programme managers to provide capacity planning, key milestones and roadmap for the adoption of data platform in user community. 

It would be an advatage if you have banking / finance domain experience as well have exposure to data quality management framework and data governance operations.
