The Immunology Disease Area in Biomedical Research and the Immunology Development Unit in Development are looking for a curious and motivated Senior Data Scientist to work on the analysis, integration, and interpretation of multiple types of omics data collected as part of our clinical trials in Rheumatology and Dermatology.

Our Immunology Data Science team provides translational bioinformatics and data analytics expertise to support clinical and preclinical drug candidates in the areas of rheumatology, dermatology, and nephrology. We apply computational biology and machine learning approaches to multi-omics data towards disease understanding, target identification, biomarker discovery, indication selection, and patient stratification.

Responsibilities

  • Analysis, integration, and visualization of immune repertoire sequencing (BCR-seq, TCR-seq), transcriptomics (RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, spatial), and other types of omics data (e.g., genomics, proteomics).
  • Application of modern biostatistics and machine learning methods to high-throughput molecular and clinical data.
  • Contextualization of results from omics experiments, including correlation with clinical endpoints and phenotypes, generation and comparison of molecular signatures, pathway- and network- level analyses.
  • Communicating with and presenting your work to a diverse audience of biologists, clinicians and data scientists.

Requirements

  • PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, biostatistics, data science, biomedical informatics or a related field, followed by 2+ years of postdoctoral experience in academia or the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry.
  • Excellent knowledge of computational methods for the analysis, integration and interpretation of immune repertoire sequencing (BCR-seq, TCR-seq), transcriptomics (RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, spatial) and other omics data types.
  • Excellent skills in data analysis, data visualization and statistical programming in R/Bioconductor and/or Python, plus strong familiarity with related web development frameworks (e.g., Shiny, Dash).
  • Demonstrated experience with the application of supervised and unsupervised machine learning methods to biomedical data.
  • Familiarity with Linux/Unix command line and high-performance computing environments.
  • Sound understanding of biology and immunology, ideally in the context of translational and/or clinical research.
