About Us
The University of St. Gallen and its School of Management is seeking a Research Associate (PhD Position) in entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial psychology.
The position will be part of the Global Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (GCEI), and of a project funded by the prestigious Swiss National Science Foundation on “Closing the funding gap for minority entrepreneurs with the help of cognitive science”.

SNSF Research Associate / PhD Student in Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurial Psychology (m/w/d)

Your tasks

Position Overview
In this role, you will conduct rigorous research under the doctoral supervision of Prof. Dr. Silvia Stroe, aimed at achieving publication in leading journals in the field. As such, this opportunity is particularly suited for candidates with a keen interest in pursuing an academically oriented PhD. We strive to be the internationally leading research group in cognitive sciences applied to minority entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial finance.
Your tasks
  • Conduct research as part of your PhD thesis in entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial psychology in collaboration with and under the guidance of the project coordinators (e.g. perform literature reviews, plan study designs, data collection and analysis, write-up results, present research results at international conferences, contributing to publications in high profile journals);
  • Collaborate with team members for the successful execution of the SNSF project (e.g. plan and conduct the assigned research, engage in scientific writing on the topic of the project, document the results of the research, including analysis and interpretation of data);
  • Perform administrative tasks related to the SNSF project progress as required (e.g. maintaining databases, writing technical/ progress reports and documents);
  • Collaborate with the team to organize workshops and conferences aimed at fostering academic dialogue.

Your profile

  • Outstanding Master's degree in Scientific Research Methodologies (e.g. Behavioral and Social Science, Psychological Research Methods) or a relevant topic field (e.g., Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneurial Finance, Innovation, Management), fulfilling the requirements for admission to a PhD program at the University of St.Gallen (see https://www.unisg.ch/en/studying/admission/admission-phd/management/ for more information);
  • Strong interest in entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial psychology coupled with a keen desire to contribute to academic scholarship in these areas;
  • Superior analytical skills and a high degree of curiosity;
  • Knowledge of empirical research methods (quantitative and/or qualitative) and/or willingness and motivation to learn and become proficient in empirical research methods,
  • A high level of perseverance and energy,
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English,
  • Demonstrated previous research experience is highly advantageous,
  • Python programming, machine learning techniques, R, or STATA knowledge is advantageous;
